Video of Michael Slagowski Running 1:48.36 High School Leader- ‘He’s Laying the Wood to This’

Michael Slagowski, who became the 9th US high schooler to run sub 4 in the mile two weeks ago when he ran 3:59.53, regained the top 800 high school time in the country on Friday when he ran 1:48.36 at his district meet in Idaho Saturday.

Slagowski had already run 1:48.70 this year and his mark today bettered Brandon McGorty’s US high school leader of 1:48.58 from last week.

As impressive as Slagowski’s times are what is even more impressive is he is running them in high school races with little competition.

The video of the race below is from David Slagowski (we assume Michael’s dad). The commentating is excellent.  “He’s like a machine” and “he’s laying the wood to this.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Slagowski’s time also bettered the 1:48.39 by Nick Symmonds in Shanghai earlier in the day, meaning Slagowski is still the fastest guy from Idaho in the US in 2016.
