Also don’t get me wrong, Phil is a little extra when it comes to Tinman stuff, but idk why people are being so negative about all of this. He raised over $8,000 for Haiti. Also, was anyone expecting him to be anywhere near his PR? He was essentially completely solo and the dude hasn’t raced in forever. Of course he’s not in PR shape. He just ran a hard TT for the fun of it since there’s no races and raised some money for a good cause.

Right? That's what cracks me up about the bitter people here. Dude puts himself out there to test himself in a time trial and raise money for charity when there is no racing going on and people rip on him because of some overzealous fan/s.

Lol the hate is hilarious. Not sure what people were/are expecting. If the goal for a TT is always to PR or run within x:xx amount of time of your PR, you’re doing it wrong.
If anyone here had even a remote understanding of how training works, they’d understand a TT at this point in the year is more to get an idea how training is going and whether training paces should be adjusted, etc. I mean Jesus Christ I’m not even a Tinman fan but the ridiculous hate is crazy and uncalled for.

In an interview yesterday, (Drew) said his brother Jacob will be pacing... but (Jacob) might struggle to run faster than 4:20 since it's not a race and he is in the middle of high mileage XC training
Who the heck is in the middle of high mileage XC training in early May?! ???

There are 33 million unemployed people in AMERICA at this moment in time. 1 in 5 children in America are going hungry RIGHT NOW. Why the heck are they sending money to Haiti? Send it to people who need it in your own neighborhood.
Because the bleeding hearts always find more pleasure in helping someone far away and unlike them instead of the person or family down the street. Maybe it looks better on their social media. What are the chances it actually gets to anybody in Haiti anyway considering it will be syphoned off by about 10 layers of corruption there anyway?
What would Jakob have run today under the same conditions in a time trial? I say 8:08.

Good point, they are virtue signaling. It's more about making themselves look good than it is about actually helping people.
Did you know Drew's brother is Jacob? May cause confusion.

And yet he still managed to help more people today than you two, who attack him for it.
Good job fellas.

Didn’t Craig Virgin run an 8:40 2 mile in high school when it was more than 90 degrees?
No.
Virgin ran 8:40.9. He has said on LR that the temperature at race time was 90+ degrees, and hotter than that on the track.
fact checker and Alabama, if you bothered to read Drew's info about the time trial fundraiser, you would know he has two sisters adopted from Haiti who are nurses, one of whom cares for COVID patients. He chose a charity with a good reputation. And pretty much everyone in Haiti is hungry most of the time and has limited access to health care.

I was in Elmhurst that day and it was NOT 90 at even the peak let alone when he raced. Craig is well known to embellish.

I don't know what people were expecting. Getting huge stress fracture in foot, out for months, no race for 8 months and then coming back on a 66% solo TT (in the hardest 2/3rd's of the race) and supposing that he should be close to PR shape? It is what it is, a solid run, not a breakthrough, but also not a disaster like some here make it out to be.
I'm expecting a guy who made the WC team last year and has a 7 year contract to be able to run a time that would at least get him to NCAA indoors.
Drew’s got a great following, 3300+ viewers watched his time trial and this thread is twice as long as the Ritz thread.

I get what you are saying but if you are unemployed right now because you were fired you are making 50k on unemployment.
Thumbs up to Drew for doing this and for raising money for charity. I wish I'd been paying attention to the boards or someone had let me know as I would have highlighted to get more live viewers but I had no idea this was going on.
Anyway, it's appropriate that this performance came today on Ritz's retirement day as it makes me appreciate Ritz a little more, particularly Ritz's 27:22 at Worlds in 2009 which I estimate was run in 78 degree weather. In that race, no one paid any attention to it as Bekele (1st in 26:46) destroyed him as did the bronze medallist (26:57). But he spanked Rupp and ran probably equivalent to sub 27 for most people as most people don't run well in high 70 weather.
More on that here:

lol come on, have you heard of periodization? There's no reason for Hunter to run a fast time right now, better to stay healthy instead of destroying his body to impress Letsrun and jeopardize his chances for Tokyo. He's proven that he is one of America's top athletes.
