So if you have a VO2 Max of 40, is it possible to get it up to 60?

im a little curious about this too, though ive heard that vo2max can't be changed much and that it's very genetic
Yeah. There are loads and loads of fat@sses out there with a VO2max of 40 that could easily be in the 60’s if they lost weight and gained some fitness.
Depends on current body weight. Absolute VO2max can be changed 20-30%, but if (fat) weight can be lost, relative VO2max can be changed a great deal more.
Not if you only run 20 miles a week at walking pace. There is no incentive for your body to change.

We answered your questions about your 37 VO2 max two weeks ago. 37 on a watch isn't the same as a lab test. You are screwed because you are not talented at running, and you don't want to work hard. How much did you run today?

I ran for 45 minutes
Absolute VO2 max can increase up to 50% from an untrained starting point. From there you could still improve relative VO2max by losing weight. Most of your running improvement will come from improvements in lactic threshold and "running economy."
Google.scholar.com
or Pubmed are better sources.
Also, you need to note that 40 and 60 are relative, that is body mass is part of the calculation. So losing weight and keeping the same fitness will "improve" VO2max. What you really want to look at in an individual is absolute (L/min) to measure a true improvement.
David me and you are screwed. I have a V02Max of 14 and god doesnt love me. I wish our coaches would let us join the team. At least we are in this boat together.
Does anyone know if increasing leg length increases VO2Max?
Is there such thing as VO3Max?

VO3 max is accomplished when u run backwards up Pikes Peak in 3 hours or less.
Also, good news! Short legs are ideal for running uphill backwards.

No. That is just anecdotal, real studies shows that having long thin legs and expanding glutes will do.
If I activate my glutes with more pelvic thrust can I finally crush that 6 min mile barrier? Running is hard and I just want the easy way out. If I can’t increase my VO2max from spamming letsrun, I don’t think I’ll ever impress my coach.
