Do you not what it means to be quarantined? That is when you lock a person away has been exposed to the disease, not locking every person away.
This is a hoax then?

Yes.

I imagine that if these folks were facing Polio back in the day that they would have had a much different perspective.
Do you imagine they had mass quarantines and killed off the economy over polio?
Interesting fact about polio: it was never a massive public health problem until sewer systems and clean cities became a thing, after which not everyone was exposed in infancy when it is least dangerous.
Interestinger fact: only 0.5% of polio cases involve paralysis. In children it's only 0.1%, and only a small proportion of those either die or never fully recover. It's the few who don't recover who made it look like a horrible plague.
24 burials per day at that site of people who have no next of kin. You can call that mass burials if you like but almost 10,000 people die in the US every day, every year. So 24 deaths of people with no next of kin buried in pine boxes bothers you? What about the 7 million children who will die in Africa this year of starvation? Now those are deaths that could easily be saved. I guess all lives are not equal to Americans.
Top whataboutery, this is exactly like arguing with flat earthers or moon landing deniers.

yeah, "what about the fact they have always buried lots of people there"
learn to debate!
That is how decisions are made in life. You have a $10. You can save it or spend it. If you are going to spend it, there are many things to spend it on. If you are thirsty, you can choose between many types of drinks. You can buy a generic water and still have $9 or you can buy an expensive one and still have $5 or you can buy other more expensive drinks. The point that you don't seem to understand is that people are not arguing that there will be 40,000 dead in the US from this virus. The point is that we spend possibly trillions of $ to save thousands of old overweight Americans when we could have used that money to save millions of people instead. So yes we could have kept the country open and made that decision. The tradeoff is that we valued each American life as being equal to 100 lives of black children.
Advocates for Terry Schiavo objected to the withdrawal not of extraordinary means to save her but to the withdrawal of ordinary means - food and water.
They also objected that her husband made many decisions that might not have been in her best interest but in his.
Whose this John Hopkins, dude?

24 per day now vs. 24 per week pre-COVID-19. Do the math, Einstein. But, of course, nothing to see here...

It's called perspective.
You should get some.

The kind of perspective that shrugs at people losing their lives? No thanks, you are the worst kind of people, it doesn't matter unless it affects you personally. This seems to be a popular political ideology these days.

2.8 million Americans lose their lives every year.
25,000 people die of starvation in the world every single day. Ya think the $2 trillion plus given by our Congress to the richest people in the nation couldn't do something about that? Where is the 24/7 media coverage of that?
Why the Media obsession with pics purporting to show a few coffins?
See. Perspective.
Then you see the agenda behind the story,
So now the US has blown through 50k deaths, meaning the JHU prediction will probably be hit by the end of the month. And this is probably an undercount by 20-30k. All in 2 months. With an r0 over 1, it is still eaely innings for the US.
New York/New Jersey Deaths = 27,000
Rest of US Deaths = 23,000

it;s not surprising that the type of people that insist all the experts are wrong are the same type of people that can never admit they were wrong.
I haven't seen a single denier on here admit they were wrong yet, despite being waaaaay off from the beginning.
Yes, the OP article (written Apr 8) said IHME estimate was 60,415 Covid 19 deaths in US by August. It's April 24th and we are at 51,000. Will be well over 60,000 by end of April. IHME estimate is way off.
Political pressure to predict fewer deaths? Hmmmmmmmm... Who would do that?
