Now that I have a more flexible schedule due to it that must not be named, I was thinking of switching to an 8 day schedule, rather than a conventional 7-day conventional program. At the moment in order to cover all my bases in 7 days, I'm having to run short, fast hill repeats the day before my long run This causes me to run with leaden legs for hours. Instead, how about this:
Day 1: 3.5 hilly miles morning, 5.5 hilly miles evening
Day 2: 3.5 hilly miles morning, Tinman CV session (6*1000m 10 pace plus 3*100m strides) evening
Day 3: 3.5 hilly miles morning, 5.5 hilly miles evening
Day 4: 3.5 hilly miles morning, 4 - 6 miles tempo evening
Day 5: 3.5 hilly miles morning, 5.5 hilly miles evening
Day 6: 3.5 hilly miles morning, 8*100m hill strides at 400m effort (7% gradient) evening
Day 7: 3.5 hilly miles morning, 5.5 hilly miles evening
Day 8: 13 miles (for once, on a relatively flat course)!
Total = 80 miles in 8 days, with an easier day between each hard day.
Has anyone had success with something like this, or tried something like it?
