Banning outdoor activities has to be one of the dumbest outcomes of this entire panic. Spending time outdoors is pretty much the most foolproof way to be happier and healthier. It helps you fight off physical malaise, in addition to improving mental and emotional health, and many viruses that flourish in living bodies and indoor surfaces have no chance surviving in the outdoors. Indoor environments are typically much dirtier than being in a park or the woods. As human beings, we have a desire to be outdoors that many of us do not realize until we are banned from being outside.
Yes, precautions still need to be taken and unfortunately yahoos gathering in large groups in the park may ruin the fun for everyone. But taking the steps of completely banning people from leaving their residence seems like a total overreaction.

Golf courses in IL remain closed “indefinitely” by order of the governor, despite cogent plans and policies by golf courses to promote social distancing, including closed clubhouses, online purchases only, raised holes, don’t touch the pin, etc. Supposedly golf is non-essential which I suppose it is. But risk can be mitigated, and it represents commerce and revenue and income streams for maintenance workers and golf course employees.
Meanwhile, Redbox locations, a high touch environment, remains totally open.
How am I supposed to rent my left-handed clubs for the two times a year that I actually golf.

Over abundance of caution.

There were easily twice as many people there than I had ever seen before! Little walking petri dishes were everywhere. Parents had apparently decided that the risk of death from a virus wasn't as bad as spending another day with little kids at home!
I've been going to the park and running every day. The trails are more crowded than usual but everyone is very conscientious about social distancing and I didn't get within 2 m of anyone.
This is to the point of the absurd. Just tell everyone that have to freeze in place until the government tells you to move. The worlds largest game of Freeze Tag.
You seriously can't FISH ALONE?? Insane.

Our county is on a Safer at Home order. Non-essential people should only be traveling to supermarkets, drug stores, or medical facilities. I live only two miles from a remote park so I drove there thinking there'd be no one there since our county was under an order not to travel.

I left without running and drove back early this morning. The park was empty except for two other real runners. I won't say whether I ran or not, but if I had, it would have been great and I wouldn't have seen another person on the trails.
I've been running into the same issue. Usual routes during the evening are way more crowded than usual for this time of year. Switched to early morning and lunch time runs. Almost nobody out in the morning although the lunch time crowd is more than usual but nothing like the evening crowd.
Also avoiding the parks and paths that I might usually use because of the expectation of crowds. Oh well.
Because if you give people an inch they will take a mile. They closed hiking trails by us because teenagers were posting on social media where to meet to party and groups of 100 kids were getting together on the trails.
The federal government told the EPA to not enforce any pollution during Corona. So close the forests and parks so people can't see what is going on. The president wanted to convert several natural landscape areas into drilling areas before had prices plummeted. Air pollution is way down due to people driving less but our federal government doesn't believe in science so it's no surprise they would not support walking in the woods and protecting nature. Wake the F up people, yes the virus can devistate the health care system but people are using this opportunity to change the world for other forms too.
Problem is they’ll tailgate in the parking lot and infect the rest if us.

I have read COVID-19 is mild in most cases. In MT we are ordered to stay home. Does anyone know the mortality rate for COVID-19 compared to the ratio for Influenza (hospitalizations/deaths)? Or other diseases such as swine flu or SARS?
Why the fear of this disease? Why close down races and not close down a store like Wamart and Target?
In your extra time perhaps you can open your high school biology book. The world is and always has been a petri dish, otherwise you would be an amobea right now.
