I was wondering how many other people do sports along side of running. I myself have been surfing for almost a decade and I love it almost as much as running. I'm sure most of you wouldn't know, so let me tell you, running after surfing feels terrible. Your legs are too dead to move, but I do it every single time there are waves in the water. I'd love to run before but for whatever reason (work, favorable wind direction, the fact that I death march every AM run)I can't do that. Does anyone else do anything strenuous that they refuse to sacrifice for running? Better yet does anyone else do the surfing running double?
Boinking.
I'm debating whether to go bowling tomorrow night.
i had a teamate who ran and surfed,a lot of times only surfed, he also never ran a faster pace than his girlfriend, he had a natural runners body and could have been so much better than he was, i think if he trained seriously, he could have been number 1 on my team as it was, he never even broke 20 in cc

bike, horseshoes, croquet, golf, swim and washers.
I used to bowl about 150 games a week before I started running again. When my fingers would split open, I would put a little super glue on them and keep bowling.
Bowling isn't strenuous for a couple games with the buddies, but 150 a week is a pretty good workout.

I do the surf/run double! I always like to get my run out of the way first then I like to surf. I may miss part of the early morning glassy conditions but find it much better then trying to surf then run.
Being conditioned, from running, really helps my surfing. I can stay out there much longer.
I live in So. Calif, what about you?
I live in New Jersey. You're lucky man I'd love do live in SoCal for the waves. On the other hand though Hurricane Irene is headed up the east coast. Suppose to be 3 foot overhead by Monday. This fits nicely seeing that I have to report to preseason camp a week later.
I work in the produce department at ALBERTSON'S and the work is very physically strenuous.... 8 hours a day of carrying boxes full of corn and bannanas and shit
frisbee occasionally, which can be a workout in itself.
