CNN wrote the article, not me. We have had 12,000 deaths in the world but 13 million from other preventable causes such as starvation, shootings, heart disease, malaria, etc. Why didn't we shut down our country to save 13 million?
We spend vast sums of money. Hundreds of thousands devote careers to helping save more of those 13 million. Shutting down the country for two months is for containing a massive viral outbreak, not for addressing anything else on your list.
Covid is spreading faster here than just about anywhere else in the world now, thanks to people like you who think it's no big deal. Soon everyone can start calling it The America Virus.
Thank you for sharing this very difficult jouney. Hugs (from a distance) and stay safe and healthy now. Blessings to you and your family!
Or not. Again, how do we know that social distancing is working when we don't have reliable data? Any stats on compliance rates? Big Picture. Big Picture

I was trying to find out if the OP ever answered your question. This would be an important info to know.
OP, thanks for sharing.

A lot of people with COVID show no symptoms. Have you ever had any illness worse than having no symptoms? Idiot.
I’ve read that even those who recover from COVID-19 can have heart and lung tissue damage. I assume that over time the body can repair such damage.

What is absolutely FRIGHTENING is that this happened in early MARCH..and docs werent even testing someone who showed all the classic symptoms of Covid19.
WOW!!
I really think we are in serious trouble now that more cases are starting to show up in ERs around the country.
Where are the tests??
People should be screaming everywhere about this.
Not much use in testing for a virus with no cure. “Congratulations, you have the coronavirus. Now go back home and do what you should already be doing.”
If we took the trillions of dollars that we are spending/losing on saving thousands of lives here, we instead could have saved tens of millions from starvation and other preventable causes. But these are US lives I guess and those are priceless while the other lives lost around the world go unnoticed. Social distancing has LR oil even not to work in other countries and we are being told that it is having no impact here. Hand washing is what stopped it in Asian countries.

A week ago I would have explained this with data and hard science, charts and graphs.
Now?
There’s Google. You want answers to your question? Figure it out on your own. We are tired of having to explain it.
I am a healthcare provider and came down with symptoms, but I was denied a test because I had not come into contact with a confirmed positive. My symptoms included dry cough, low grade fever 100.0, dyspnea, fatigue, no appetite, myalgia, and arthralgia as well as nausea and GI discomfort. Symptoms lasted 3 days. I have been in self-quarantine for the last 3 days (symptoms ended on thursday morning 3/19). I videoed with a Nurse Practitioner who told me I didn't need to self isolate or anything because my fever wasn't above 100.4. I couldn't believe it. People are testing positive with next to no symptoms! The restriction on testing is really hampering our ability to combat this spread. It's here, and it's going to get worse. Get prepared for more lockdown.
It's not really hampering it (assuming health care workers get tested). We all know there are probably 10x positive cases for those found by testing.
As someone else said, what will you do different ?
The underlying assumption should he that you act as if you have it.
Even if you test today and are negative . You could catch it 5 mins later.
The answer is that you are willing to give up your freedom and income and everyone else's in the country out of fear that this may impact someone that you know. But you weren't willing to give up anything to save the lives of millions of people starving in the world. It really is sad.
Because the entire population is paralyzed with fear of not being a part of the groupthink. At least this NY times article is starting to pay lip service to the other side.

Why did you go to the hospital so many times? I have to be honest, I've been way more sick than your symptoms and I just stayed home until I got better. What was it about your condition that made you think you needed to go to the hospital and then Emergency?
He is asthmatic with pneumonia and struggling to breathe, and you ask why he went to hospital and ER? You not only ask, but get your d*ck measuring stick out with your ‘I’ve had way worse...’. I can’t even say you’re a moran. You are a fully fledged, grade A, moron.
Number of tests matter!
Maybe it doesn't matter when somebody has cough/SOB and fever (with exeptions).
But a majority of cases are mild, with many of them having just a sore throat or even nothing. Should all people now self quarantine, because they could be infected?
Only with enough tests you can take the right measures in the right dosage.
We are past the point of worrying about testing, especially since most of the infected show little symptoms. If it is so contagious, we should assume that many people already have it or had it which is good news. Japan and other countries realized this and decided that herd immunity is better than trying to have a few people not be exposed.

The right dosage of what? As other posters have noted, there is no identified cure or therapy at the moment. Need just to isolate to prevent spread, and let the bug run it’s course. I don’t see the benefit of testing at that stage (exhibiting symptoms), as a positive result shouldn’t really have any bearing on what you should do
Thank you so much for sharing. For me at least, the fear of this is the unknown. The more that I learn from first hand accounts the more comfort I get. Hope you fully recover.
dude learn how to spell "moron."

Sorry, my mistake (bad English). I didn't mean dosage of a drug, but "dosage" of political measures (in specific areas).
You are right, for an individual person with relatable symptoms a test is quite pointless (not absolutely pointless, but I don't want to go into details now).
