Good question and I would like to know as well since smoking too much marijuana can have negative effects on the lungs, therefore possibly have a person not withstand the ability to fight COVID-19?

Stop digging Wuhan.

Also I’d be interested on your perspective on whether pot smoking which is pretty commonplace in CO could contribute to otherwise healthy 30-40 year olds more susceptible to serious COVID-19 cases?

As you are using the term "too much" in this context, then yes, it can.

I am an ER nurse in Denver. The Denver ER's are full of otherwise young people in there 30-40s. Yes, we have older people as well but almost equal numbers of younger folks in the ICU on ventilators. Will the younger people die? Probably not but it would surely be horrible to be on a ventilator while sedated (You have to be sedated to be on one). Take care of yourself people wash your hands and stay at home. Most hospitals are not even releasing the numbers that they are confirming on COVID to prevent further hysteria and to make matters worse its estimated one in 30 people who have COVID currently are even tested as the testing kits are few and far between.
How much are you getting paid ?
Yeah. I call bulls**t too. Hospitals have no agendas they’ll release their data. It’s not their job to manage hysteria.

If its 1 in 30 isn't that a great sign? That would mean 29 in 30 aren't even sick enough to warrant a test. Even if you say some people get very sick but never get tested we are still talking about 27 or 28 in 30 that never are sick enough to get tested, recover, and now at least have some immunity.
The dream scenario right now is that it is passing through millions of people without us even knowing it. Sure, for now the elderly should remain completely isolated. but if only 1% who get sick require hospitalization, that's an amazing sign.
This is why watching China is so crucial. If China doesn't see another major spike as they relax rescrtictions, we are in a great spot with this.

USA is effectively under marital law already, as multiple emergency orders have been enacted, allowing for executive command of the entire economy and society. They'll do whatever they are told to do, from top down, at this point, so will mainstream corporate media.

That's easy for you to say. You're getting paid. If you weren't getting paid would you be saying the same thing.

I'm a regular pot smoker and a runner. I remember looking at some studies that suggested smoking pot helped increase the breath capacity of the subjects. To smoke, you have to take a deep breath and hold it. So it is kind of like training for the breathing muscles. Now, that study was done on regular people, not athletes, so the conclusions are unclear. There isn't a lot of research here. So I still don't believe smoking weed helps my lungs, but I also don't really know what it's doing.
Either way, I think people think of weed as a vice that is inherently harmful, when the real effects are much more unclear. This applies to lots of areas, and to a lot of drugs and other vices. People just see them as bad, full stop.
This ^ is correct. Let us hope that there are actually 100x more people infected than we know about.
LOL! Somebody lied to you.
why are posts like this allowed to stay up? Where is Rojo's outrage now?

My wife works at a hospital. Don’t mess with this. Just plan on staying home the next few weeks unless you have to get food or must work outside the home. No need for hysteria. Chill out and help society out.
The end. Not sure what is accomplished by whining and crying about this being overblown, when the preventative actions we can take are pretty simple.

One interesting thing I just learned is that a lot of the approximate 3000 tests they have taken are pending, so there will be a big spike in cases once those are run through. The places being hit the hardest are the tourist destinations in the mountains. On the town hall with my congressman they said they have 600 pending tests from Vail.
It seems like especially Colorado has stopped testing despite being one if the epicenters of this outbreak in the US. Why is Colorado not getting the resources to test like NY?
Colorado has actually done a pretty good job of testing, which is partly why we are showing more cases (that, and we are an international destination for skiing this time of year). Three reasons we are getting less attention than New York or Los Angeles are: It's easier to maintain social distancing in Colorado than it is in New York or LA due to population density and climate, NYC and LA are important port cities, so disruptions there would be felt across the country and CO has considerably less population (5.61 million) than the NY metro (23.63 million) or Southern California (24.12 million). Colorado has been doing drive through testing in multiple areas of the state to identify how much of a problem this is in different parts of the state. The resort towns got hit hard because of the jet setting crowd flying in for ski vacations and then going apres ski at bars and restaurants. Others brought it back with them from trips abroad (if you look at most of the celebrities and athletes that have this, most probably got it on plane flights). Most outlying areas have few issues with this as social distance takes care of itself in small towns so long as they are not major tourist destinations.

Can we build a wall around colorado to protect us from states where they aren’t taking this seriously?
I started a thread last week that castigated nurses who I know personally (some in my own family) who were arguing, loudly and vociferously, that the then-budding reactions to Corona were an overreaction and that Corona would turn out to be nothing important.
Having followed events in China, Iran and then Italy very closely, I had already locked down my own personal life and was shocked at how cavalier too many people in my own life were acting, like this was all BS, going through life as if dancing on the Titanic.
Those same nurses in my life are now swallowing hard, wondering whether they'll have enough PPE, how they and their families are going to weather the storm. I want to say that for them, and for every front-line healthcare worker who is now gearing up or already in the thick of it, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
You will turn out to be the heros in our world of hideous lack of foresight and leadership. Thank you now for your actions and heroism in coming days.
What is your estimate for how many will die in the world? Even the worst case estimates don't bring it near other preventable causes such as starvation.
