Haha, you're a funny, lad. You're very mixed-up.
Yes, I think Kenya should be banned. So many Kenyans are going outside (doped to the eyeballs) and stealing money through nefarious means (doping and duplicity). That's an indisputable fact. Many Kenyan 'elites' are stealing Olympic and World Championship medals (along with the trimmings), which deprives clean and honest athletes. Again, this is a fact.
Kenyans will continue to steal and cheat. You cannot, in any reasonable way, deny this. They must be banned. Pure and simple, it's wrong. Making excuses about illiteracy is patronizing and wrong too. They, their coaches (European and Kenyan), and their managers (European and Kenyan) know the rules. If Kenyan athletes can't/won't follow the rules, they must be banned. And yet, they continue to break the rules. And as we both know, scoring one over on the 'outsiders' is a feather in the cap over here. Again, another fact. Let's be honest, instead of dancing around the issues and talking shight.
This doesn't mean I have some inveterate hatred of Kenya and Kenyans. I'm stating facts. In fact, it's the opposite.
Now, while so many Kenyans are cheating and stealing (hustling), they're (imo) still the best runners. After they get banned, hopefully, they'll come back clean and clean up. But they should only be allowed back if they implement structures that reduce the risk of doping. At the moment, it's all reactive and as we both well know, that's not going to work here. (Yes, there are education programmes in place--superficial--, etc but it's not good enough: more must be done.)
If you were a true fan/supporter of Kenyan running, you'd agree that they need to be banned, that they need to clean up their act, and then come back and do the business.
While I know nothing at all about Ethiopia, I'm 'sure' the situation there is worse. I think in time, they too will be banned.
I'm also sure Brits, Irish, and folk from the US are doping too, but nowhere near on the scale as is evidenced in Kenya.
Can you seriously argue with any credibility as to why Kenya shouldn't be banned? I'm all eyes and ears and if you can convince me, I'll happily agree with you. There's nothing I'd like more than Kenya to be clean and win fairly (not just major comps and major marathons but smaller marathons too.) Over to you lad...
