Maybe because it was a perk that is part of the airline’s deal with the US military for their business.

The military could probably technically just take the plane. So, be glad they left you with a seat.
I agree with OP. This has bothered me for a long time.
The order should be:
1) Had no choice
2) Military
3) First class
4) everyone else - subject to #1's approval
Make room for the Space Force.

Why do military get to board commercial planes before first class/business class?
You see, there are little perks here and there when you sign a blank check to Uncle Sam that is cashable with your life.
Except 90% of military folks nowadays only sign up for the lifetime pay and fat pension and they don't care at all about serving the country. The military is the only job in the world where mindless pawns can make a decent living.
That is until the military finds out you failed to disclose you sprained your ankle when you were 9 so they can legally revoke your pension under the guise that you lied on your health exam. Then you end up homeless because you skipped education and have no job skills and experience to get a job.
America, the land ruled by the government to screw its citizens.

"facts and reason" is probably the most ironic name on here, considering his support for his "arguments" are never more than anecdotal links.

Beating people's heads in doesn't give freedom to them. It only makes you a jerk with no brains.
The op is first one to run behind a man in uniform if the sh** ever went down. All high and mighty on the internet but doesn’t realize that these fine men and women are what makes this country what it is and allows dummy’s like him to post without recourse.
I bet he thinks us entering ww2 was dumb too.

Indeed.

Exactly. A corporatized military state that wages war for profit.
Name the last war that we needed to get into....
You sound like the same punks that were telling people we needed to send our men over to Vietnam to die.
Did you guys ever apologize for that?
+1. Every war since 1945 has just been to protect the assets of the rich. It’s great people want to serve but we would still be here if we had skipped the last 5 wars .
Letting military board first is perfectly right and just. However, boarding would be much faster if they did one class boarding like in the old days (holding the line open for few people and having to stop to have others get in line and move along is slow), and faster than that if they:
a) let people walk on the tarmac and board from steps at the front and back of the airplane simultaneously or
b) board last rows first so that most people would not be slowed down by others stowing luggage and getting into their seats or
c) make checked baggage free so that there'd be fewer carry-ons on board.
Any of these steps would reduce the time airline travel takes considerably. Having first class, which is at the front of the plane, board first of the major areas of the plane means that many are held up by few.

There has not been a U.S. declared war since WW2.
U.S. contributed to climate for WW2. U.S. was a net exporter of crude oil before WW2. U.S. should have realized how mad Tojo was going to be when U.S. cut off Japan from U.S. oil export. Some wealthy Brits and some wealthy men in U.S. who were sympathetic to a Fascist government in German, contributed much capital to Germany. I hope no one thinks that nit wit Hitler turned Germany's economy around himself. See Prescott Bush.
I would state most armed conflicts since 1980s have been about billionaire & multi-millionaire asset protection.
I guess one could state Korea & Viet Nam Conflicts involved billionaire asset protection. True believers in U.S. in 1950s and early 1960s believed in Domino Theory.
This African Wars started by O B A M A are placing U.S. in a position which is very ugly. Why are not more black sub-Saharan Africans complaining? African Wars continue.
I'm military (20 years active duty). The airlines think they're doing something nice but it's extremely awkward and honestly embarrassing. They're letting military on first with families with small children, disabled, old people and all the Platinum/Honors rich folks. It looks like either the military are sad and need extra help OR are in the top 1% of special people. We are neither and should be boarding along with the rest of the regular folk.
let me guess, sitting in your mom's basement, taking a break from gaming just finished a episode of whatever featuring Fonda or Penn. People like you will NEVER understand the importance and the mission of our military. We took an oath to protect and serve and not question the orders given to us, we might not agree, but you and I cannot afford to disobey. If you feel so strongly about your beliefs and values, leave my country that I protect. If you wish to discuss further, go to any man/women in uniform tell them to get off their (high horse?) and complain. Do not do it with a mouse and keyboard.

Dude chill out. You have no right to be telling people to leave the country.
A large standing army is a relatively new development in our country so don't confuse it with 'being American'. Our country is not under immediate military threat. There are no invaders at the gate. Going overseas and bombing the sht out of other countries has absolutely nothing to do with American defense and freedom. Nothing. Please stop.
A lot of us just want to go back to before we spent all our money on the military and waged wars for no good reason. That will make our country better. That doesn't make us one bit less American, so cut it with 'leave your country' BS. Maybe it's time you left mine.
I love how you end your post by insinuating physical violence. Way to confirm what you are being accused of.
If your ideas are sound and defensible you should have no issue with defending them online with words. That is the forum of ideas. Yet , as usual, the military guy wants to settle things physically, because he knows in his heart that his ideas are unsound and he needs to resort to physical violence and threats to 'prove' he's right.
