Actually 3
How he literally just announced this 30 minutes ago?
He seems like a really decent young man. I hope NAU proves to be a great decision for him.

I can sleep in peace now.
If Ferro can stay healthy they could RS him. I like the idea of RSing Luis.

Aren't most HS distance runners, besides the females, decent young men?
i trust in mike smith not to overwork nico when he starts jumping in with the big dogs, maybe even RS him. great coach, great runner — both amazing people.
tori gaitan from Great Oak is also going to NAU, both teams got good californian talent recruits.
any word on where jace aschbrenner is going?

No chance they redshirt Nico. He isn't going to NAU to watch his teammates race for a year. And NAU isn't going to redshirt a freshman that can be All-American.
Gaitan was about 20 seconds per mile behind the top California girls this season so hopefully people don't have too high of expectations for her in college.
Nico will be top 5 at NCAA XC next season.
NAU + Nico Young = no limits
NAU with a huge score getting Nico. They will be loaded next year.
When was the last time a #1 ranked distance recruit went to a school at 7000 feet? The kid is going to get major competitive advantage, not that he needed any already. Nico already has done some training at Big Bear so I think he is a good responder to long term altitude exposure, training.
Absolutely will redshirt. Look at their roster. Look at their returners from the NCAA championship.
Gaitan peaked two years ago...
I don’t know that he “absolutely” will redshirt. They have an amazing returning roster, but that same was true this year and bosley took of the redshirt. If young can run at an all American level, he’ll run.
No. Not if there are 7 guys faster than him.
Why would someone with so many available offers choose northern Arizona????
The degree from there is worthless.
