I always thought dirty underwear was normal.
The next Prefontaine/Galen Rupp/Drew Hunter/German Fernandez.
short course
He has a 25:30 8K. He has trained seriously for 6 years now. 20mpw, supposedly. He looks very developed for a 14-year-old.
Probably he will run D1. I doubt too much more. These hyper-trained young kids are not that impressive because no one else has trained that much at that age. Webb ran 4:06 (equivalent to 14:14 / 23:27) his first season of running.
Any updates on him?
Bump
Like Letsrun.com predicted, he has regressed, ran 8:52 and 4:10 this indoors Unattached...

You are incorrect. He ran the 15:23 in Nov. of 2019, and his 8:52/4:10 are from Feb. of 2020. Sorry to break it to you and he did not have an XC or Track season at Sonoma High.https://www.tfrrs.org/athletes/7601595/Broen__Holman.html

The 4:10 and 8:52 are a 1500 and 3k from before his 5k record. I ran on a club team that is father coached. Very weird, basically used everyone on the team as guinea pigs to see what would or not work for his son. I am not making this up, and I don't care if you believe me.
He says he was 7-8 in first grade, but then set the record at age 13 while in 8th grade. Hmmm.

Skipped a grade maybe?
Kids that age have little concept of how old they were and when.
He was probably running 7/8 age events in first grade even though he was likely 6. 7/8 is the lowest age group typically.
I wonder what he will be like XC and T&F wise when he is a senior in high school?

He'll break
The Runner's World article said he was from Sonora, not Sonoma. Looks like Sonora HS has been participating in xc and track this winter and spring like the Dublin Distance Fiesta. Maybe he's taking these weird Covid seasons off? It would have been exciting to watch him race his freshman year of high school this past year! He is talented.

Hopefully not. Why do you wish him to fail?
He’s Currently a freshman at Sonora.
14:37 at Woodridge.
He stood out to me in the results, since I have a Freshman daughter. Next best 9th grader was 15:25, so that's a pretty significant performance gap. Stud kid. And amazing how different these races prove out gender: it's no big deal for a 9th grader in girls to place Top 5 even and yet in boys has never really been done. Great race.

This is such a creepy phrase, especially when applied to minors. Do you know what it means/implies?
