I have been carrying out a speed development series of sessions along the lines sketched by V. in the following great thread.

I am now more or less at the end of the series, but would like to try to improve my speed further. However, I'm not sure how to progress. I'm not sure that more volume is desirable, and one cannot run any faster than max effort! Thus I'm unclear on how to tweak the sessions so as to try to improve.
Should I go back to the beginning of the cycle and focus on 40m anew, and buiød up from there? Or just continue doing the same amount of 60-80m sprints each week? Or do more of them progressively as weeks go by? Or move up to 100m or 150m sprints which have an endurance aspect, and forget about pure speed for a while? Or do a half pure speed (60m say) and half speed endurance (100-150m say)?
For what it's worth, I am primarily a 5km runner.
