25M PR - mile: 4:28 (2014), 5 km: 15:43 (2014), 8 km: 26:55 (2014)
Hey LRC. I posted here three months ago about last-minute training for a mile road race (
https://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=9548557
). Now, I want to focus on the 400, 600, and 800 m in the spring. I apologize if there is already a thread where I should post this.
Since my last thread I have been training about 15-20 mpw and I have run time trials every 2-3 weeks. My goal is to stay at 20 mpw to see what I can do on this little volume. Below are the last two training weeks and the results from my time trials.
2019-08-25
600: 1:38 (30,34,34)
2019-09-08
400: 60 (lol)
2019-09-22
600: 1:36.1 (30,33,33)
2019-10-06
400: 58.6
2019-10-20
600: 1:35.5 (29,32,34)
2019-11-10
600: 1:34.0 (29,31,33)
2019-11-04 to 2019-11-10
T 29:29 (4.02 mi) run
Th 30:13 (4.19 mi) run
F Hike for work, 4 mi ~ 360 m climbing
S 42:01 (5.91 mi) run
Su (6 mi) total with 600 m TT
2019-11-11 to 2019-11-17
W 27:55 (3.87 mi) run
F 30:06 (4.08 mi) run
S 41:20 (6.01 mi) run
Su (6.00 mi total) 4 x 800 m w/ 90 sec rest in 2:39, 2:39, 2:39, 2:40
2 x 200 m in 29, 30
2 x 60 m in 7, 7
Essentially the second week is an example of my non-TT week training and the first week is an example of my TT week training. Given my constraints of 20 mpw, does this schedule look OK? My goals for the spring are a 54 400 m, 1:29 600 m, and a 2:05 800 m.
Thanks and sorry for the long post!
