Well yes, athletes thrive on someone being genuine, so they would see right through the dramatic self-promotion tactics.
apparently there was prior complaints to AC as well. Everyone always uses success as a reason to look the other way

They found archived information spanning the years 2006 to 2013 that was deemed relevant to an investigation of Dave Scott-Thomas and so it was forwarded to the independent Commissioner’s Office.
"Athletics Canada views ethical conduct as a cornerstone in the fair administration of the sport of athletics. Everyone participating in athletics as an athlete, coach, integrated support team member, administrator, volunteer or staff member is entitled to participate in an environment that is free of harassment or discrimination. Athletics Canada does not tolerate conduct from its members that is not in line with the organization’s code of conduct, core values and / or beliefs.
In order to help maintain a Safe Sport environment, in July 2015, Athletics Canada instituted the independent Commissioner’s Office, staffed with three independent Commissioner’s. It was the first office of its kind in a national sport organization (NSO) dedicated to resolving complaints independently from the NSO. Just recently, Athletics Canada engaged Sport Law & Strategy Group to conduct a full review of the Athletics Canada Commissioner’s Office and its terms of reference to ensure strong governance moving forward.
We are confident in our current process that infringements of this type of behaviour, whether illegal or immoral, will be addressed via our Code of Conduct,"
Yeah, you could bring in 25 PhDs in the philosophy of morals and ethics, and disassemble this collection of B.S. Nice try . And who are these " independent commissioners " and what are their credentials?
Why don't you read about it on the AC website? Would take about 5sec to find it.
Athletics Canada staff find relevant archived information from 2006 to 2013 about DST that Is important enough to require a publicly announced update; most people are quiet, knowing this will not end well.
Suddenly deciding to question the independent commission, only after you know they have potentially damning info, is not a good look.
ooooh....they used "registered mail", so you know it's serious.
If athletes have been hurt by anyone involved in this situation I feel deeply sorry for them. Abuse of trust in a coach-athlete relationship is a terrible moral crime even if it isn't always a legal crime.
This also now has the potential to be a very bad situation for Athletics Canada. They're making a big deal of their creation of the independent Commissioner's office, established in 2015. When they severed ties with DST/Speed River in December they confidently said they had not received any complaints about him since the Commissioner's office was established. But they also said they'd conduct a thorough search of their archives to see if there had been any complaints prior to 2015.
How can they not know whether there have been any complaints against one of the most prominent coaches in the country, to whom thousands of dollars of AC funding has been directed for years now? It sounded like in December they were admitting to shoddy record keeping; now in January they're saying that there is a history of something (complaints?) over a seven year period. Does this mean they're guilty of both shoddy record keeping and lax standards when it comes to follow through on complaints about coaches?
Latest minor update, The Coaching Association of Canada is not in any way involved with investigating or reviewing Dave Scott-Thomas:
Need to interview Mr. Mark Rosenthal on the matter
OH and Dave K as well.
The time period is surprising. A number of posts on this thread alleged coach-athlete improprieties around 2002.
The time period and the wording of the Athletics Canada statement suggests to me that the dismissal relates to potential abuse of power and/or bid rigging.
I doubt that Athletics Canada kept records of athlete complaints prior to it being mandated in 2015. However, they would have kept financial records and meeting minutes from committee decisions.
In other news, we haven’t received any follow up from various organizations when requesting confirmation that Chris Kelsal is being investigated for being an alien.
Why would anyone think that the RCMP, OPP or Guelph Police are involved in the investigation. Very poor ‘journalism’ to throw those claims out with some implied suggestion that there is some valid reason to make those claims. The absence of a reply from those police services isn’t news and shouldn’t be reported. Extremely irresponsible behaviour.
Chris Kelsall's only purpose is "clicks" and has consistently shown incredibly poor journalistic principles in his articles and his website. He purposely tries to create innuendo and "noise" with most of his articles (just read them).
For him it is all about the "story" - I wonder if this was his personal life absolutely blowing up (either DST or the potential victims lives) whether he would call it a "story".
I would believe very little on his website, and most of it is recycled.
so should Terry Radchenko start coaching Westaway now??
Maybe if fred keeps posting dst’s credentials, he can get a job in the USA, which has even more of these scandals.
He should have been all along
