Works both ways, nothing has been accomplished, because no one can decide actually what Brexit even is...so why leave until you've figured what actually you want in the first place, then are in a position to move towards it.
Probably the most reasoned argument for what to do in Brexit I heard, was to leave, but stay within the trade agreement etc, on the basis that then you have time to figure it out, and move once a vision has been agreed, but you don't harm all your business until that point.
The EU isn't fighting hard to keep the UK. We can leave at any point. It's simply because Brexiters wants their cake and eat it.
