I started another thread asking people how they did and to rate themselves.
Figure we should do the same for the Pros.
I'll start with top 5 and top 5 Americans.
1) Kamworor A
2) Alberto Korir A
3) Girma Bekele from "semi-elite" start A+
4) Tamirat Tola 2:09:20 B-
5) Shura Kitata B-
I wonder if the other LRC guys will be harsher on Tola and Kitata
American men
1 Jared Ward 2:10:45 PB 2:12 last year A-
2 Abdi Abdi 40+ 2:11:34 A+ thought his career was over
3 Connor McMllian 2:12:07 A
4 Tyler Pennel 2:14:10 A on return from injury
5 John Raneri 2:14:13 A - is he only a 30 minute guy?
Women:
1) Joyciline Jepkosgei A
2) Mary Keitany 2:23:32 B+
3) Ruti Aga 2:25:51 B-
4) Nancy Kiprop B
5) Sinead Diver A master's runner
American women:
1) Des Linden 2:26:46 B (A for giving american's some entertainment)
2) Kellyn Taylor 2:26:52 B = fact she ran almost equal to Des maybe should give her a B+
3) Aliphine Tuliamuk 2:28:12 B+ been injured of late
4) Roberta Groner 2:30:12 A = 6th at Worlds and now this as a master
5) Katy (Moen) Jermann 2:31:55 A = PB 2:33 in Houston was previous best

Raneri has run 14:07 and 29:16, definitely not equivalent to a 2:14, but he did run 1:02:51 in the half
I'd say A+ for McMillan. I know he was fast on the track at BYU but only marathon result i see is a 2:23 in Chicago, so being less than 90 seconds behind Ward is pretty damn good. -
I was about to agree w McMillan A+ but is 2:12 with new shoes = 2:14 old shoes?
Fact he ran by himself makes it impressive to me but I could see a guy like that running 2:14 . -
Really happy for Tyler. He himself on IG described his race as "good but not great" and vowed to work hard over the next 4 months before the trials but considering the injuries he's coming back from 2:14 on a cold, windy day in NY is great in my book.
Altho the mustache trend that he and Jared Ward are promoting needs to stop. -
Looks like some good old Cornell grade inflation!

Way to leave out Joey Whalen. I give him B+, he jogged a 2:18 last month but only managed a 2:16 for NYC. Training indicated sub 2:12. Decent but not great performance. -
I agree with most of your grading but I disagree with Des Linden. Most of us come to this board because we expect a different take than the RunnersWorld crowd.
Is there one person on this board that thought Des had a chance to win when she opened up a 15 second lead on the field? Hell no. Even she knew that this was a middle school move. She is no longer a factor to win a race. She goes through the motions before and says that she’s in it to win it.
She is in a different zip code over the last 10k but always says she is in it to win it before hand. That has to be a failing grade. -

Yes but that was this year. The post I quoted was saying 2:12 was his PB as of last year -

They all say this same junk- Charlie Grice and the rest of the British middle distance/distance guys are especially persistent with apologies and vows for more hard work after disappointments. -
Seth Demoor- D+. C- cuz he ran with a camera.
