Also, he's actually 42. Even more impressive. It gets better though. His birthday is listed as 1/1/1977. The classic Kenyan birth date of "We don't have an official one, so we choose January 1st." He has got to be like 45.

He's best friends with mo farah, attends extended training camps with him in both Ethiopia and Flagstaff, and his old roomie in Albuquerque was busted with epo- I believe WHILE they were living together. Hard to be a fan. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Yeah, he's from Somalia. Which means their documentation is even worse. Nevertheless, very impressive and go Abdi. Really rooting for him at the trials.
Exactly. Didn't watch but was Flanagan casting shade on them like she was against Rupp? Didn't think so
IAAF lists his birthday as 12/2/78.

Really tired of the black love. It's all fake too. Having all these Africans dope and appear superior as if it's true. Most people are turned off by this nonsense by now, what's your excuse?
Um, what?
Abdi is 42-43. He was probably born sometime between 1976-1977.
He was run down by Adam Goucher at 1998 NCAA cross championships. I believe Goucher is 44 so 42 or 43 sounds right

A sub 2:09 runs 2:11 when he’s is is his early 40s and your saying it’s a to good to be true race? Really?
I like and admire Abdi. The most impressive thing about him is his girlfriend.
Is it more likely that someone who competed at the top level the past 25 years has secretly been getting away with doping the entire time or maybe, just maybe that person is exceptionally talented?
Dude can't weigh more than 93 pounds. I'm willing to bet your life that he has more tendon mass than muscle mass and more blood mass than fat mass. Gramps was built to run.
Bravo, Abdi, bravo!

Goucher was a 5th year senior so he had a couple years on Abdi...I think Abdi was born in '77...kudos to him-so close to the Olympic standard!

If that's the case, I tip my hat to him. It's one thing to make a hard 3-5 year push doping and then back off the sauce and get out of the sport with your reputation intact. I can't imagine the nerve and smarts it would take to race as much as he did and always stay a step ahead of USADA, WADA, etc. Truly, there may be guys that dope 25 years straight and not get caught once, but that takes some serious balls for him to have not ducked out years ago while still in the clear.

Nope, he is clean.

Martin Fagan, his teammate at the time was busted for doping. That's why.
To save you all a google search, he finished 9th, in case other readers are interested.

The IAAF webpage says 2 DEC 1978, i.e. 2.12.1978.
