This is an interesting take. Given everything we now know about Salazar's actions, would anyone be that surprised if he and Nike undertook extensive experimentation to determine exactly how to avoid a positive EPO test? There was no "hoping" with him -- he and Nike would have done whatever possible to ensure success, all the while touting the fact that "none of our NOP athletes has ever failed a drug test!"

Because they were investigating him for years. They have text messages, phone records, voicemails, witness testimony, whistleblowers and there was no EPO. If you could read, you would have read the report and understood the allegations.
Salazar would have thought it was an insult and beneath his genius to dabble in EPO because he fancies himself as being much smarter than that and thought he could achieve the same results in that gray area that's technically legal.
And PS, it's not a wonder drug, it makes red blood cells, which doesn't happen overnight. EPO requires sustained usage over time. There is nothing magical about that.
I hate how people say how someone works so hard and does crazy workouts. That's literally the main purpose of taking PEDs. Recovery. Nobody is gaining anything from taking PEDs while sitting on the couch eating cheetos.

Why would he experiment on determining the detectable levels of testosterone if his only intent was to remain on the sunny side? Why would he be banned for conducting experiments on non-athletes who are free to do as the choose?
Furthermore, do you not agree that it is clear that USADA has no intent to ban high profile athletes who get caught red handed? The Jama Aden cases proves their stance. The Jama Aden case also proves that athletes can take a cocktail of highly effective drugs and never fail a test.

Test methods are constantly changing and there's simply no way he would stake his and his athlete's career on these amateur hour EPO dodging gambits. As mentioned by another poster Salazar is if anything way too sophisticated for that. In 2019 EPO seems to be primarily for dirt poor third tier runners who are willing to risk a positive (and idiots like Kiprop).

1. El Geerrouj never tested positive - don't lump him in with actual cheats
2. Comparing Lance Armstrong to runners is apples and oranges. Cycling's main event goes for 3 weeks, is team oriented, and has far more money than running. Blood transfusions were a major part of cycling, which is not even applicable to running. Armstrong's entire team and support staff were part of his deception. Hard to imagine that kind of structure would work in an individual sport like running.
3. Engels did not say Hassan is mentally stronger. You created that out thin air. He said she structures her entire life around running, unlike Engels - who likes to party.
4. This idea that ped's are necessary to run these races and perform and train at a high level is laughable. Hassan skipped the indoor season, as did most world class elites. They have to peak for about 6 diamond league races and world's. It's about a 3 and 1/2 month season. College runners do more.
Let's examine the idiocy of the owners of this website and the other leaders of this witch hunt. We have a world class runner in Sifan Hassan. She moves to the U.S. to improve. It takes 3 years but she becomes the very best. She is charismatic, attractive, and immensely likable. Instead of celebrating her success, many are trying to destroy her accomplishments and her reputation, without any proof. McCarthyism at its finest.
