we have a long way to go in cross still, but starting to think about winter training for 800/1600. The goal is for early june in outdoor track, but we will be competing in indoor track, running races from 200 to 3200 meters. These indoor meets are damn near every saturday.
For a kid used to running 50 miles per week, what should the winter training schedule look like? I plan to use the race days for the bulk of speed work, but I would also like to get in a day of flying sprints or short hills, and probably some tempo work. Other than that, just thinking mileage.
Making a similar thread helped a lot to hash out ideas for xc training this season, which has been very successful. Throw some stuff at me, please!
