If you watch Galen's evasive and deceptive appearance with the press, he says he was not able to even do a tuneup race due to bumps in the road. It is clear that Galen is setting up the DNF. Sad to see this interview as it shows how coddled Galen has been and how he cannot show any accountability for his actions.
I am someone who believes that NOP athletes were not doing anything illegal, just maybe walking line with a few things like TUEs. But man he did not look good in that interview. Some people are not good liars and he is one of them. Especially in regards to him having any communication with Alberto.
Notice that in the interview he also said that no one in NOP has ever tested positive or been found with drugs... That does not preclude doping at all. The "never tested positive" argument sounds very Lance-like.

What is he supposed to say? That a bunch of NOP athletes have tested positive, but USADA and WADA were too incompetent to find it?
Can you name a single athlete who would say something different?

All the interview really showed is that Rupp is an awkward guy. We already knew that.
Anyway, it he owes answers to anyone, it isn't these "reporters." If he did something wrong, there are governing bodies who should be talking to him. It isn't really his responsibility to submit to interrogation by members of the entertainment industry.
Galen is not just awkward. Galen is so obviously lying which is part of the reason he stumbled so badly over the questions about when he last spoke with Alberto. Galen also is obviously implicated in doping, i.e., he was not an unknowing participant, and you can see that with his inability to address the questions without his lame Lance- like unwitting confession.
It appears Gault (at least I think it was him) has not read the AAA decision.
Rupp appeared as a witness in the AAA case so he obviously knew about the pending matter.

There is a lot Galen knows about that he is being deceptive about here. Galen does seem a bit as if he knows he has been exposed as a fraud but that if he just sticks to his talking points maybe some will be fooled.

he's definitely talked to alberto, he can totally do that, it just can't be coaching related stuff. i've doubted him for years in terms of doping but i definitely can see him not crossing the coaching line since the ban.

He totally stumbled on this part of the interview, clearly he's been in communication but was terrified how to say that while also making it clear no coaching happened. Of course the instant you admit to any communication at all everyone will immediately assume coaching occurred.

Shoot, that's a great point. I did read the AAA decision (well the Salazar one at least), but I forgot that Rupp was a witness while talking to him today.
