Watching it live, I was like, "Definite DQ." Watching the replay, particularly the side view I"m like, "No DQ" but by the letter of the law it's a DQ.
If they are going to DQ Quigley for stepping on the line, that has to be a DQ. I wish it wasn't a DQ and am happy the way El Baakali reacted but you can't just jump out a lane too not get passed. If it was Worlds, I think he'd definitely be DQd. I'm not sure if they'll do it here.
I think it was really borderline. Like Rojo, I thought it was a DQ watching live, but after studying the replay, I'm not sure if it is worthy of a DQ. Wale was drifting out into lane 3, where El Bakkali was running. He didn't blatantly impede him, but El Bakkali was forced to throw his arm out to prevent Wale from drifting in further and Wale did end up finishing in lane 3. I'd say no DQ but if they DQ'd him, I wouldn't complain.

Over two full lanes from the final barrier to the line. Only Chelimo can compare. Come on.
I'm sure from the technical reading of the rules it should be a DQ.
However I don't want that to be a DQ so the rules need to be changed. Just say if you are in front of someone you can drift into any lane you want.

Just watched it, yeah he should get DQ.
It was questionable, but I agree it doesn't quite reach the level of a dq, it's more like he got right to the edge of a dq.

I definately thought it was a DQ, but EL B faded so much in the end that they let it slde.
Did El B even put in a protest? don't think so.
Wejo's suggestion is just bad. What is in front? Sounds like the recipe to introduce tackling in running.

DQ, gotta set a precedent, someone shouldn't be able to do this in an Olympic final and get away with it
Only thing to do is make it like downhill skiing (slalom etc), where they don't all go at the same time.
