Moen broke the norwegian record in 10000m running 27:25 today. He is in better shape than in 2017. Expect great things from him in half marathons and marathons.

They fixed the results now. It was 27:24.
30 sec PB
Great year for Norwegian running. NR in 400H, mile, 3000, 5000 and 10,000. Five different runners.
He ran a 2:05 with a 28 min 10000 PB. Argubably very weak given his half PB. But it has seem he hasn't figured out the 10000 till now. I wonder what he'll do for the marathon now. 2:03 or 2:04? Is he doing worlds? XC roller skiing does work.
The final time is 27'24"78, in second position Albert Rop in 27'31"08. Paced for the first 6 km by Cornelius Kangogo, Sondre increased the pace after 7 km.
Splits : 2'45" - 5'30"8 (2'45"8) - 8'16"7 (2'45"9) - 11'01" (2'44"3) - 13'46"5 (2'45"5) - 16'29" (2'42"5) - 19'14"6 (2'45"6) - 22'00"4 (2'45"8) - 24'43"7 (2'43"3) - 27'24"78 (2'41"1).
2:03 now possible? wrote:

Haven't heard of him being a XC (roller) skier
Thought he was doing the Wanders/Robertson twins thing..
Living in Iten and running with the kenyans..
Some people here seem to think the Ingebrigtsen brothers do it too... To my knowledge Jakob have never competed on skis
I'm so happy for him. I thought that we will never come back to the form he had in 2017. Waiting for more:)

When he was injured he put plenty of time on these babies.

Did he also do XC skiing? wrote:

It's just a good cardio. You can do a lot of stuff like that. It looks like XC skiing in Norway is like ugali in Kenya. LOL

Last time I saw on instagram that he's training in Kenya was in march. Was he training in Kenya after that?
https://www.instagram.com/p/Bu1J1-1oqNm/?hl=plMoen is scheduled to run a Half Marathon (KobenHaven) on September 15th, so 2 weeks, lets see if he improves on his 59:48.

Wasn't he injured in late spring too?
I'm guessing it's probably more practical to be injured in Norway.
And then I think he does his altitude training in St. Moritz in the summer because of short distances to competitions in Europe.
So maybe he is mostly in Kenya in the off season?
I could be wrong.

Last time a European or someone of European ancestry held the half world record?

They (Sondre and Renato) probably just what's the best for him now. In Europe you have better physios and rehab and he also was racing there.

Probably Mark Curp in the mid 1980's 1:00.55 Though Antonio Pinto ran A World Best at the time of 59:43 on a course too much downhill for Record purposes
Sondre trains in Sestriere (2050m altitude) in Italy, from the end of June, and goes back Sestriere Tomorrow. He has to remain there till Valencia HM, moving from Sestriere only two days before Copenhagen, and two days before the 10000m of WCh. We have still to decide if the last period of training before Valencia Marathon will be in Sestriere or in Kenya. This depends on the weather conditions of Sestriere (November can still be good, but sometimes there is already snow).
No St. Moritz this year, because we think Sestriere is better for preparing Marathon.

Thanks. Sestriere it is!
And congrats on an excellent race tonight.
