He ran 2:06 many years ago in 3 consecutive years in Berlin without specifical marathon training. Last year he had a good performance in NY worth 2:04 on a fast course. However this year he seems to finally matured and be ready to heir Kipchoge's throne. In a few years he will run the marathon FAST. No chance Desisa or Tola/Kitata stand a chance, they would have to be in 2:02-2:03 shape. My prediction is Kam runs 2:01 before turning 30.
Kitata went most of the London course close to kipchoge, geremew, and wasihun; as well as beating Mo. I think that is better form than a 2.06 man who smashed the half WR last weekend. That is half the distance, you know, not 30k, not 35, it’s half. Plenty of men and women have excelled at the half and struggled at the classic distance. Experts say ‘the wall’ doesn’t exist anymore but their are still plenty of elites who either fade or dnf late.
