heat and humidity?
That's a horrible result.
It was warm and humid (yes, I live in Chicago), not horrible by any means, but my guess is that it was a tempo run for him. In any case, it was only a three hour drive for him to get to Chicago, and nice to mix and mingle, which he did yesterday, and please his sponsors.
Please explain why? Marathon pace workout in crappy conditions and probably a nice pay day? Seems good to me.

No, he matched Walmsley's time and he's ready to start running ultras.
I ran the half this morning and it was fairly hot and humid. This really isn’t that fast of a course. On a sidenote, they sent the lead 10k Runner’s the wrong way ? and cancelled the 5k the night before. Rock N’Roll did not have a great weekend and Ritz saved them.
You can’t say there is not some fight left in the old dog , the only way they will get him off the road racing circuit is dragging him off kicking and screaming .
He doesn’t have much left of his tendons but still has lots of heart .
low-70s & 100% humidity at the start. just on a better weather day he probably would have been a minute faster without changing anything up. 13.1 @ marathon pace 12 weeks out. seems like a good day at the office to me.
a lot of folks forget he threw down a 1:01 this past February. he still has something left. I honestly feel like a 1:04 today is worth 1:02-3 maybe, who knows.

I flew into Chicago for this race and to see relatives - got to see a lot of people struggle and two get CPR just after you got out from the convention center underpass thing. It was hot and humid and gross.
It was 73 and 95% humidity at race start. Around mile ten the sun started to come out, I'd say 1:04 here is way better than Walmsley's result in Houston.
I had 93-degrees, real feel 102. That's a solid effort, but Ritz has always been great in in the heat. I was in the field when we went 27:25 in Mobile in 85-degrees, 80% humidity. Just nasty.

With that weather and being out on his own, that was a solid effort. Grow a pair loser.
Ran the half, low 70s above 90% humidity, better than July home in Atlanta. How could 10k leaders be sent wrong direction? The split course was WELL marked at the split. A few ambulances near the dark tunnel didn’t know what was going on.
Unless the 5k participants got an email, I don’t know how they would have known early that it was cancelled. I don’t even think it was mentioned on the app until Sunday morning.

There is always some 25 min 5k guys on here flaming pros, grow up dude, he won the race and ran a fantastic time in over 80 degrees and humidity. 64 is still fast as hell.

Not a super fast time, but he won, so does it matter?

13 at marathon pace barely registers as a beneficial workout. Either he's not in shape or he ran a moderate workout, either way he should not be congratulated.

You can't call something a horrible result unless you know what the goal was

Are you on crack? In those conditions, that's a excellent time.
