Didn't Jason Gunn run Nationals in 2000?

A. Butler: A school which cannot win anything w/o the use of foreign athletes because no Indiana kid nor an American kid for that matter would want to go to such a shitty-ass school.
B. Indiana: The team that hasn't done shit since Bobby, and has also been lucky enough to beat a couple of Indiana State teams on off days. Who also does nothing other than make promises to incoming freshmen that they will win Nationals every year for the next 15 years.
C. Notre Dame: Who is no longer allowed at Intercollegiates because they have been to scared to compete in the past when other teams would have beaten them.
D. Purdue: What can we say. West Lafayette without Donnie Fellows? What will they do now? ....Oh wait....Nothing.
E. Indiana State: Have been down the last few years, but will make a comeback to challenge for respectability once again. Does anyone remember '96 when we were ranked 27th in the Nation...Ahead of BU....PU...and....oh yes...IU. As for Terre Haute being the worst, until you live here suck a fat one, cuz you just don't know.
F. Ball St.: Who?
E. Do I really need to go any further?
IU had 4 runners run under 14:10 last track season. Only 3 other programs did the same: CO, Stanford and Arkansas. Give them some respect. Coach Chapman is building his program the right way, so it will take time to overcome the demise the program was left in when he took over. As for the rest of the state, I would go:
2. Butler
3. Notre Dame
4-7 (all pretty close and in no particular order) Purdue, BSU, ISU, So IN)
Butler Dependent on Foreign athletes? Check your stats. 5 of the top 7 were from the US last year. Also, depend on 5k PR's all you want- the race is 8k. You must be a freshman because we all know that the extra 3k makes a BIG difference.
Until someone finishes higher than ND at nationals, which has happened very, very few times in the last 15 years, I can only think of one time off hand, they are the best team in Indiana. This years team will do better than people expect.
whatever,
who is runner 78 indentify your self. i guess you can't say shit about garland till you have him as a coach. I have and he did a great deal for me. so whatever????????
LMA
Who were the 4 IU guys under 14:10? I can only think of 2 (Powers & Jefferson). I know that Andrews and Pharis were close but not under 14:10. Plus isn't Powers redshirting? And I have heard that Andrews is coming back from an injury. Also, those guys are very inconsistent. They run one season and then disappear.
All 4 mentioned were under 14:10 last year. 5000m times are a pretty good indicator of one's VO2 Max. A 14:10 5k would equate to roughly 29:20 for 10k. Given the fact that these guys run in the 90-100 mile per week range, I would say they should hold on for the extra 3-5k just fine. The only one of that group who may struggle at the longer distance is Jefferson ...5k is probably at the upper end of his range. BTW, I have no connection w/ the IU program whatsoever...just think they deserve some credit. Butler is a fine program as well. Tony Stewart rules. Goodbye.
Jason Gun was an awesome runner!! He did run in Nationals House of Fire, I am glad to her that Gartland did a great deal for you. Your one of a few. I ran for him too and it was the worst mistake running for him. Sorry, but I have to agree with runner78 on this one. Unless I am proven otherwise, I am going to have to say that ISU is mmmm, not good so to speak. I see that they have a lot of new people on the team, hopefully they can turn the program around. ND would blow any Indiana team out of the water on nay given day, mens or womens team.Lets also not forget that it is a great school academically too (thats what really matters). After all who really gives a shit who the "best team in Indiana is." It's Indiana for crying out loud!!! What counts is who does well at National's. SO,why don't we all wait until National's is over and then decide who the best team is.
runner78=jonescounter?
The writing looks a tad similar.
Who is runner78?
I have to agree with runner78 on gartland being a horrible coach. as far as mrs. LMA goes you should easily be able to figure out who runner78 especially since you ran on the same team as her. Think about it Lacy Marie Acree. Hahahah.
Yes Jason did qualify for nationals in 2000 and in 1999, but the real stud is Mr. jeff Andrews. Everybody gave him crap....espicially Mr. P but who scored more points at conference with a heck of double. Oh yes... the dr. So really the only way to settle this debate of who is better, is for the 2 to come back home and race the open race at Pre-Nats. I Love Lacy M. Acree I mean LMA
Is this gonna turn into another skids message board?
Speaking of ND, a friend just told me that Piane just got his contract extended for a few years. Is that true?
Not surprising or anything since his teams consistently do well, just wondering.
That is pretty funny that you refer to Butler as a "shitty-ass school." I did not go there but you obviously must have been denied admission there, as well as every other school in the state because you ended up at Indiana State.
The 2:11 800 that was referenced makes me wonder if we're talking with Angie Menser. (Which would be too bad because it would ruin my opinion of her -- One of the most attractive women ever on the ISU women?s squad.) But it couldn't be her; no one with such a piss poor attitude could be related to Michael Menser, who himself was one of the grittiest and best basketball players ever at ISU.
Then I went a little further back. Mary Anne Tonini? I heard she had some success in her post collegiate career (which would be in stark contrast to the waste she was in college), and she might be bitter towards her old coach because he allegedly tried to put the moves on her.
At any rate, runner78 and I will have to agree to disagree. My experience with Gartland was the complete opposite of hers. I sucked in college, but then ran some pretty respectable times under his tutelage after my eligibility ran out. Some folks can't hack it with the guy, but his workouts and motivational techniques work well for people with the right attitude.
Just ask Angie Bruecker Martin (2:06), Debbie Ramseyer (16:49) and anybody else on Gartland's teams who had any guts.
bucci
i love to but, we all know the true story about when 15 runners are all on the same team??? hah i wish you the best a pride. but, i still need to know who and the heck is runner78. bucci that is your job to find out. hey maybe it cooper hah
LMA
hey J&SB,
i wanna race you.
Joe- yeah, Piane got an extension. there was an article on the track or CC page. it's probably still there.
Maybe runner78 was talking about Talia Barwick. Sure, she was a 2:11/2:12 type, but she had a LOT of baggage coming in. Runner78 sounds like a disgruntled former Sycamore who left the program because of her own doing and own behavior. Maybe she was doing things away from the track that was taking away from her performances, and now is looking for someone to blame. Sound familiar? Hmmmmm...maybe Alisha McDaniel?
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
