Awesome. Hopefully she will blast a sub-1:48.
The statement doesn't specify the women's 800. They should put her in the men's.
Interesting move. I wonder if she's trying to intentionally be DQ'd so she can make a legal appeal. Some of her supporters have suggested she run the 1500 m which is on the list of restricted events but for which the IAAF has no evidence to support restriction of DSD athletes. Whatever the intent, the organizers of the event are probably stoked as this whole thing has brought so much attention to the sport.

You didn’t see they have suspended the ruling, she can for now compete in all events including the 800.

I'm clearly not up to date. Was just listening to a podcast that was recent but didn't mention this. Just read the Guardian article about the suspended ruling now.

I doubt the real women are happy about this.
Isn't the suspension only through June 25th, and the Pre Classic is June 30th?
The real XX women should withdraw, and go to a different meet that supports them.
For a bunch of guys that obviously hate women, this is an odd place to plant your little swords.

I love women and support XX 800 runners. I think this is a step backwards .

there's no chance at all this will happen. semenya is a good person and an advocate for herself, plus she has way more of
a personality than many other women's 800 runners, that's why in-person crowds tend to like her. this isn't like justin gatlin or someone who has provably lied about competing fairly before. as far as i'm concerned, semenya has done nothing wrong.
the reason why she shouldn't be competing in the women's division is, unfortunately, kinda nuanced -- most people don't know what hyperandrogenism is until you explain it to them. it's a battle that should be won in court ultimately where the IAAF can actually get down to the facts, not in the court of public opinion or on social media where people are so quick to judge and attack.
Very good. She will show the low quality of female athletes

as i understand it, Semenya has requested that the hyperandrogenism rules stay suspended throughout "the entire appeal proceedings" which could last the entire season? june 25th is just the date that the IAAF has to file their appeal before for it to be considered, and if they file and it is granted, then semenya could be booted from the 800/1500 again. none of that is a certainty though.
based on the way the case is going though, i don't think the rules will be re-instated before worlds.

Apparently you are unfamiliar with the area. It's far more likely that she will get a standing ovation, which I would actually bet on.

I believe that’s what American baseball and basketball fans did when blacks (I believe that Americans refereed to them as Negros at the time) were first allowed to participate with whites. I’m glad to see Americans have not evolved since.
Remember that she is and has always followed the rules.
She should not be blamed for this.
That is just plain ignorant.
If you want to boo somebody, go to the IAAF and boo them for having in their rule books that people who are legally recognized as female or transgender are allowed to compete in the women category. Do not blame Caster.
She is presently simply having the legal system determine if the recent changes are legal or not. Again, don’t blame her for the result of this process. Blame the legal system maybe. I don’t know. But not her.

man, glad thats the qualifier, makes it all better now. may find some womens races to jump into
Will make sure I tune out of watching the "womens" 800.
Well that really blows. I thought it would've been real interesting to see her battle it out over 3k with that stacked field.

I've only ever boo'd gatlin, and don't plan on adding to that list.
