I've never heard if Jonathan Marcus before today. Can someone get me up to speed? Cliff Notes?

If you duck duck go 'who is Jonathan Marcus?', the first thing that pops up is a BBC link to a diplomatic correspondent .
https://www.bbc.com/news/correspondents/jonathanmarcusJonathan Marcus is a nobody , Noah Droddy is a somebody , case closed .

Former college coach, so-so runner, maybe ran in college. Blogger and podcaster, latter with Magness, private coach and apparently social media enthusiast. Seem to have a lot of passion for the sport and wants to be seen as a player and a thinker. May be a bit of a self promoter, at least comes off that way at times.
'Conversations' like this are why I stopped using Twitter a long time ago. LOL what a stupid platform
Jonathan Marcus is a stone cold loser. He acts like an expert coach on Twitter when he’s not. I wouldn’t trust him to hold a stopwatch. He should be ashamed of himself for trying to mislead people.
Based on his twitter, Jonathan Marcus is someone who thinks he knows everything about training elite athletes except how to actually write quality workouts.

Yep, along the lines of ‘never f*ck somebody you wouldn’t want to be’
May I ask where you got that saying/quote?
Marcus seems way out of touch. I remember him posting a while ago about how coaches today are entitled because they think they should be paid. He was going on about how volunteer coaching is fine & it's okay not to pay people for their time. It rubbed me the wrong way.

Haha it’s from the Frank ocean song unity.

Noah,
I don’t think babbling idiot was mean at all.
You choose to make this ridiculously stupid tweet a public issue. You could have responded to Jmar privately but you made it a “look at me” response.
I think that the original tweet was lacking thought and inconsiderate of anyone that has ever dealt with depression. You know Jmar personally and chose to call him out publicly.
The irony is that you think I should only share my criticism of you directly to you.
I will choose to treat you in the same fashion you did Jmar.
This guy doesn’t understand twitter lol. Some pretty ignorant responses towards Noah in this thread, when all he was doing was getting clarification on a tweet that was potentially harmful to those who are suffering from pretty bad depression.
The funny part is that smart people sometimes are the most miserable. Ignorance is bliss right?

I just looked at Jonny's Twitter. Is he a professional fortune cookie writer, or just a hardcore reader of fortune cookies?
Welcome to the world of “high performance” coaches. Most of the millennial track coaches and definitely the strength and conditioning world is full of these fortune cookie platitudes. Altis is big on this bs. They have this insecure need to justify their intelligence and worldliness with their reading lists and quote of business leaders and psychobabble. Seth Godin is one of their main go-tos.
I'm with Droddy 100% here. Just become some past intellectual or well respected historical figure said something doesn't make it correct or mean it applies today. Droddy is seeking debate and encouraging people to actually think about the drivel they're posting. If you post something online you've got to be willing to debate it or redact it.

Never heard of the guy, but both quotes people have put in this thread firmly plant him in the "thinks he's intelligent" category with no real understanding behind what he says. The item above doesn't even make sense as a comparison.
Your tweets are a reflection of who you are.
Jonathan Marcus comes across as the homeless guy that spews his opinion and is so over the top that he can never see someone else’s opinion.
This is the guy that you walk to the other side of the street and ignore.
Noah Droddy is the guy that has chosen to confront the crazy homeless guy. For what purpose? He comes across as equally as crazy in doing so.
Both guys come across as equally nuts. Zero respect for both.

Actually, they're just trying to out-millennial one another.
I'm with Droddy too, seems like this Marcus guy unknowingly exposed himself. His arrogance got the better of him. Still don't know who he has coached or why he is relevant.

It's a virtual slap fight… not that there's anything wrong with that. Yet somehow you never see people like Jenny Simpson or Jared Ward or Jerry Schumacher or Jack Daniels involved in silliness like this. Most likely because they have busy lives full of doing meaningful things, instead?
