Darkwave: I mentioned this in the Road Racing thread this week, but barring a real tough go of it, I'm up for a get-together.

Current forecast looks crappy — low of 62, scattered Tstorms, ESE wind shifting to WSW (headwind)
What bogus weather forecast are you looking at? Everything says low to mid 50's with a 10 to 15 mph tailwind. As long as it's not cancelled for thunderstorms it looks like great conditions.
Who else is trying to run some 5:18's on Saturday?
Where did you find elite field entries?
ran it back in 93'(2;43:22) was looking for something 10 minutes faster... humidity kicked my ass...drink up
Look under media tab for the Media guide.
So...I'm thinking meet at Little Angies in the bar area at 1:30 pm post race? How many are interested?

The winner will be a dark horse. First name: Jared.
What's everyone doing or planning on doing these next few days in terms of running? Personally, I'll run a few easy miles tonight (3-4) with some striders at the end. Tomorrow I'll take off completely and then run 2 shakeout miles on Friday.
6 miles today
Off tomorrow
20 mins plus strides Friday
Weather is looking good!!

Nate Guthals is listed as a 2:31 marathon best, but the runccg website says 2:21. Did Grandma's get it wrong? If not, how the hell did he get into the elite field, and why did runccg lie about his personal best?

Marathoners: make sure to dress warmly for the wait in Two Harbors - it will likely be cooler there than you expect.
Felt a little warm running in Duluth around 8am. Winds are blowing though ?

Great race for sub-elites to go for it and earn some cash and get some recognition.
Lead packs should be extremely small.
2 sub 2:10's in men's marathon (Barno, Ordoro should be easy 1/2 )
2 Sub 2:30 in women's marathon (Kiptoo, Bawcom)
3 Sub 63's men's half (Llano, Mkungo, Cheriuyot)
1 Sub 70 women;s half (Hasay) - next best 72+ so should be a calk walk for Hasay
Might see some new names in top 5 in all races.
Look for Nell Rojas to be there in the marathon.
OK - I will be in the bar at 1:00 pm at Little Angies on Saturday, wearing red top, black tights, with a sign that says letsrun. Anybody who wants to meet up there is welcome.
I have to drive back to twin cities to catch early evening flight so I won’t be able to make it unfortunately.
How much difference do you think the tailwind makes tomorrow? Would you let it push you faster or hold original goal pace and save the extra energy for faster last few miles?

I always run by effort, and let pace be what it is, so the wind doesn't change my plan much.
The wind is going to be huge. But...the one mistake people are going to make is to be over confident. Whenever race conditions are truly fast, people get stupid and go out too fast for even those conditions. So...be wary of that and don't get dragged out.
Also - the full course meanders a bit, with some points where it turns a bit more towards the lake - since the wind is coming off the lake, you'll feel a cross to head wind at those points - just know that it won't last very long.
Finally, the last mile tomorrow is going to be really tough because that tailwind will be a headwind, and you'll be exposed. Save some mental energy for that last mile.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
