Let's say you have a full healthy season indoors and outdoors January-May, how much time off (if any) works for you and what do you do in the first weeks to start your buildup for the fall?

Light jogging and strides for the next 2-4 weeks.
In high school I only took off a few days as I didn't know what I was doing, in college it was more like a 5 days. Post college (still training at elite level, will be in USATF championshps in July) I take a full week off and then the next week run every other day before getting back to normal.

1 week completely off (very important to get the bones and muscles not fatigued anymore and to get healthy and strong again).
1 week of cross training with 2-3 runs that week no more than 3.1 miles each.
1 week of 50% usual mileage.
1 week 100% usual mileage (back at it).
So 3 weeks of "break"
