Previously I know that there has been a lot of controversy about Jason rexings sub 14 in trainers on the track.
But I have found some golden information.
On the third page of the NDP multi all American

.
What's the controversy?
A while ago Jason Rexing, a Nike coach/trainer wrote in his bio that he had ran a 13:55 5000, then when asked about it he responded with its not on record because it was during practice , in trainers. And there was no proof he actually ran anywhere near that level. Maybe now there is?
You're repeating what is already known. It's a stupid meme. Again, where's the controversy?
that just says he was voted an Academic All American; it doesn't say he ever ran 5000m much less that he went sub-14 minutes or that he did it on a track in his trainers. calling this, "golden information," is like proving the moon landings weren't faked by linking to Neil Armstrong's high school year book entry saying he was good at Latin and physics.
cheers.

We know who Jason Rexing is, and given the thread I remember on this forum, his biggest claim to fame isn't being a 'Nike coach/trainer')
He did run 13:55 in trainers and it was probably this race:
https://more.arrs.run/race/48332This is the first time I ever actually looked into who Jason Rexing is/was and now I remember racing against him.
For the record, at the time I raced against Notre Dame and Butler fellows frequently. When I moved up to the 5000 outdoors my shins were always getting banged up wearing the Kennedys every other week.
Notre Dame runners, for this same reason, wore adidas road racing flats. I know this because I ran right behind many of them in races most of the way sometimes for the better and other times for the worse. I eventually copied their idea the next season because I couldnt afford the flats in season and we were lucky to get what we wanted with our athletic department.
It wouldnt surprise me if Jason Rexing ran 13:55 in "trainers" or rather, a heavier duty road racing flat or the Rotterdams (also popular at the time). All the Notre Dame runners did (i.e. O'Donnell and my career nemesis Van Ort).
A. After seeing Jason's photo I do remember him but, though memory is foggy, he had a nickname at the time like "Rex" or something which I never put together
B. He was definitely that good -- very good
Wish I knew what letsrun was at the time. I may have confirmed the suspicions as true which I am doing now.
I think there must be some confusion with newer letsrun visitors. Besides taking off as a letsrun meme years ago, Jason Rexing is in fact a real person, and was a legitimately great runner for Notre Dame.

Rexing is God tier.
Yes Rexing ran 13:55 in the Husky Invite. Yes it was in trainers.

So his biggest claim to fame is being beaten by a dude named Dave Davis.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
