SELF ESTIMATED is the missing word here.

When I was in student accommodation at university I shared a big apartment with 8 others and one was the son of Nigerian businessman. He would get a taxi just to go to the grocery store 300 m down the road. Another was the son of the Zimbabwean ambassador to the UK and he used to be picked up in a chauffeur driven limousine every day to go to classes. There was a number of aristocrats in my year, including a German baron. And a Russian guy who was one of my closest friends at university got to Stanford business school to do his post-grad and is now one of the richest men in the Ukraine. Had dinner with him again last year.
The son of a Nigerian businessman? I think I dealt with him. He used to email me offers all the time about transferring money and if I helped him he would put money into my bank account. Said his dad was a barrister or something like that.
I had the pleasure of meeting a rich kid once who was the son of a super wealthy family, one that once owned a super bowl winning franchise.
He walked in a bar after getting out of a limo, by himself, and proceeded to walk around to every single girl and ask them if they wanted to go back to his house where he had a hot tub, pool, arcade, etc...and every single girl shot him down and he left alone.
To this day (10 years or more later) I still laugh about what a loser that guy was, despite the fact he is a millionaire just by being born into that family.
Also met Will Ferrell once, way cooler than the first guy I talked about.
Frank Batten (both Sr and Jr). Senior is best known (among many things) for starting The Weather Channel and selling it for $3.5 billion. Junior is best known for being an early investor in Red Hat, Inc. They both have donated tons of money to colleges, foundations and other groups.
Sr passed away about 10 years ago but when I am in the office, I see and talk to Jr on a regular basis. Super nice guy. Very easy going. Been out for lunch with him numerous times. Sometimes it's sit down, sometimes it's grabbing Jimmy John's and eating in the company kitchen. First time I ever met him was on the elevator. I said "Hi Mr. Batten, how are you?" and he replied with "I am well but please call me Frank" and as I was getting off the elevator he said to stop by his office anytime.
A Vanderbilt that has heavy ties thoroughbred racing. Props if you can guess who.
I met Garth Brooks years ago when I lived in Oklahoma (I don't know his net worth). He's a super down-to-earth guy. If I didn't recognize him, I would have never known I was talking to one of the most famous singers of our time. He was wearing a hoodie with a stain on it and one of my friends starting giving him crap about it. He replied "uh, my washer is broken" just like anyone else would, to which we gave him more crap. Good guy.
I know a Rothschild
One of my college friends inherited many millions and via his financial dealings is worth a billion by now. He's also a major philanthropist. I only stayed friends with him for a few years after college. I'm way old now and, seemingly, an idiot.
Richard Branson. Spent a few days with him on his island. It was a reward for the idea I had then implemented. I'll never experience anything like it again but it was a lot of fun. Obviously didn't stay in touch.

Why is that obvious? You'd think he'd want to keep in touch with an amazing idea person.

You're not Alice Walton anymore?
I also met Alice Walton briefly years ago at one of her properties in Arkansas. Don't know if that was when you were her.

Also met Win Rockefeller at an event and talked with him one-on-one for awhile. Very soft-spoken.

Roger Penske. He is worth about 1.5 bil. Met him professionally.
I went to school with his son, who was also named Roger, but friends and family called him Kip. If you ever want to ingratiate yourself with his father, ask how Kip's doing these days.
I don't know who is the richest person I've ever met, but when I was at MIT about forty years ago, I was walking and chatting with a friend, a professor emeritus of electrical engineering, when another man saw us and stopped to exchange pleasantries. My friend, courtly with impeccable manners, introduced the man to me as "Professor Bose." I didn't know much about electrical engineering, fancy stereo systems, or the science of sound waves, but I knew that Professor Bose made highly prized speakers, and I was impressed that the biggest name in sound systems was still doing what he loved most -- teaching and researching -- which he continued to do for many more years. Along the way, his net worth moved into the billions (the Bose Corporation was privately held, so publications like Forbes came up with their own estimates). A couple of years before he died, he donated most of the non-voting stock in his company to MIT.
My uncle invented the Stairmaster. No joke.
CFO of a major company I used to work for. I have no idea how much he's worth, but probably over 10 million.
I have an uncle who also probably has a 8 figure net worth. He owns a business making yachts for billionaires.

I did some stock trading for a super wealthy finance type back in the ‘80s. But then the douche bag bought the airline my father worked for with the plan of liquidating the company and raiding the penchant fund. I managed to stop him from going through with it, but the whole thing really derailed my life and career.
That you Charlie?

I'd hardly call 10 million rich. isn't that like half of LRC?
further, a CFO for a major company can pull down 10m a year....
Oprah
Met Audrey, Nancy and Ann Walton at the Audrey Walton Youth Leadership Conference. That was about $10 Billion in the room at the time.
Probably around $15 billion if you include Ann's husband's money. He's a brilliant self-made man who married into the walton family and then came up with the idea, all on his own, to build - get this - wal-marts.
I was gonna say Trump, but it turns out he's not rich. Instead I'm going with a kid I went to college with whose Dad bought him a Masserati on a whim. I have no idea who his Dad is, but he has to be loaded. He was Chinese.
