Not the longest but very technical by Mr. Nuno Bettencourt. Groovy and those harmonics are very hard to pull off.

That's the most common answer for best guitar solo ever. And it's inarguable. There might be something you like better, and you might even claim something is just as good, but you can't say there's a guitar solo better than that. Just listened to it for the 1000th time in my life and it's still awesome and holds your attention the whole time.
I enjoy lots of guitarists. It's kinda too bad the youtube guy put "christian" on Keaggy's instrumental solo. Should be able to enjoy it without labels.

That was underwhelming lol. He's alright at playing but he's got no character. Sounds like the kind of music that was used for a theme song on some 80s sitcom or something.
Another favorite.
I won't say this is the best guitar solo ever, as that is way to subjective, but this is a fantastic guitar solo.
4:35-6:00 in the above video, though I recommend giving the whole song a listen as it is crushingly sad and powerful.
Best shovel guitar player on the planet.

If it has a string, Justin can make it sing.

"He took it all too far
But, boy, could he play guitar."
I for one feel that at least half the genius of Ziggy Stardust album and other greats by Bowie is what Mick Ronson creates on guitar.
Excellent choice!

Wrong album.

Hendrix never served in battle. He was discharged while training in Kentucky, after injuring his back. This was the official reason given, but many suspect the army wanted him out because he was lazy and not a promising soldier. Seems plausible. Either way, it worked out pretty well for the universe. He was the GOAT, by light years.
Most overrated guitar player of all time. Totally unlistenable. Anyway, it might have worked out for the universe but as for him, he was dead within a few years.
Hendrix was not overrated.
When Eric Clapton met Jimi Hendrix.

"This guy got up to jam with Cream, and he cut Clapton, he killed god"

This live version of that solo is way better than the recorded version. As good as anything else posted here.
Have to put in a plug for Stevie Ray Vaughn ...
Wakes up, goes to sound check, yawns, picks nose and starts crankin'

i wasn't referring to the album that song in the vid. That's fairly obvious that that is not Ziggy Stardust, which is a very tight concept album. I was referring to an other song on another album in which Mick Ronson is featured and contains lyrics of amazing guitar skills.
Paul Simon is not too shabby
Not really rock but..
The pedants among us (malmo?) might say this doesn't count, being a duet, but I prefer to look at this as duelling solos, by two of the world's best. My friends, I offer you Rodrigo y Gabriela:
