Weird question but something I've noticed is that I run faster when running barefoot on grass than when wearing shoes on both grass and road.
Not just slightly either. I run 20 seconds per mile faster barefoot on grass than in shoes or on the road on easy days.
My barefoot repeats are significantly faster too when compared to shoes. 800 repeats are 8-10 seconds faster. I'm just as fast in mid distance spikes but once I put shoes on, I feel much flatter and my legs get beat up easier too.
It can't be weight making the difference as my normal shoes are only like 5-6 ounces so why is this happening?
Biomechanical?
Mental?
Combination?
