He is the only runner in history that managed to rule the scene for so long. The man has 9-10 (lost count) straight wins. All the other runners can pull two or three emajor wins, some of which aren’t even consecutive. And afterwards they start to decline in shape, having injuries- look at Kipsang, Bekele, Stanley Biwot, Kimetu, Geoffrey Mutai, Emanuel Mutai, Kameoror, Patrick Makuo, Desisa, even Haile Gebrselassi had ups and downs. And same thing in the women. But this guy Kipchoge- he doesn’t lose, he never gets injured, he never gets second. What is it that he does differently? Is he the only professional??
After today it looks like he can do whatever he wants, like a god of some kind. Doesn’t make sense.
Editor's note: We compare Kipchoge's consistency to other peers in this article:

Can anyone explain Kipchoge’s consistency ?

And all the others, some of which train with him, don’t train properly??
He is the only one who trains properly in Kenya and Ethiopia ? -
This may not be the answer you were looking for, but it is the answer nonetheless.

He had a great track career and is a great responder to EPO. He is one of the protected class in running so he won't be busted. Kiptum was just a diversion so people think there actually is any semblance of doping control.

Lionel Andres Messi plays football.
Messi was born to play football. HE doesn't force it. When he plays, to use an old cliche, it is POETRY IN MOTION.
On Saturday, April 27th, 2019, he just won La Liga for his team.
Messi plays football and he is GREAT at it.
Every football player is awed by him.
Eliud kipchoge runs the marathon!
I think this was his distance/event and he probably didn't know it. He should have started in 2012 when he didn't make the Olympics. Perhaps he should have started in 2009 or '10.
The other guy who comes along (in this whole thing) is Tiger Woods.
Kipchoge has everything: Stamina, endurance, speed, grit, focus, patience, confidence (he was a little riled by the Ethiopians today but he kept it together), fighting spirit ............
He is also just too lucky that he rarely gets injured. I've never heard of this guy being injured.
I think everyone else will have to give up on him if they haven't until time elapses.
All things being the same, he'll win Tokyo 2020 God willing and then, perhaps run two more years and then, retire in 2022. He might lose in his last two years but that won't put a dent on his stellar record.
Let me be done with my ranting. -

He only races like twice a year. I imagine that has something to do with extending his career. -

He did get 2nd once, when Kipsang broke the world record. After that one 2nd place finish, he has been on a world of his own. Others have won marathons and then fade. He just doesn't fade. We all know that eventually he will with father time never losing, but you should enjoy the time now that you are witnessing the greatest marathoner ever.
I think it helps when you smile. Anybody have a video of the smile he had after passing the Ethiopians? -
Thank god that Kipchoge didn't make the Olympic track team in 2012 or else he might not have gone to the marathon. Glad that he did and we have witness the greatest marathoner of all time!

1) He's the best.
2) He doesn't allow any distractions in his life. -
The only athlete who dominated an endurance sport at the same level with the same consistency in the modern era... I hate to say it... was Lance Armstrong.
-
.........'Nuff said man.
-
And how can you explain 66'42" second half by Brigid Kosgei? And she arrived at the end fresh like a rose!!
Last year she made the same time in the RAK Half Marathon....... Imagine! -
Despite his long success he lives, trains, and acts like he hasn’t won anything (contrast to a Mo). That coupled with incredible talent makes him consistent.

This is true but...Kipchoge became a legend when he defeated Bekele and ElG in the 2003 WC 5000m as a relative unknown and then he had a stellar track career. However, he was very beatable and now, at a distance which seems to humble almost everybody at some point, he is virtually unbeatable. It will breed suspicion and is certainly surprising to many. -
The great thing about druggies is they have a short career. A flash in the pan. Unless you're Lance.

Are you really that stupid? Do you jog 5k races in hopes of placing top 10 in your age-group? -

There are other guys in this bracket. To mention one (there are more): Christiano Ronaldo. What he has done is more impressive than what Woods have done. -

Very true. Had he made the London Olympics, he'd have been stuck with Mo Farah in a sit and kick 27:35 or 27:45 10k. He'd never have realised his potential.
His not making the marathon made him realise his niche. IT was somewhat serendipitous.
Some things just happen inadvertently for the better.
