Yes. All of the time. Most of them are very friendly.
Do you think this a generational thing.
Older people more open
The way the world is today you'd have to be crazy to talk to someone you don't know just because they happen to live next to you. Most of us learned this in kindergarten...
Sad ...sorry where you live
Mr Taylor was a war WW2 vet, and Hog was a construction business owner and midget car racer in the 60's and 70's. Dorothy (black lady) and Dwayne (white man) were an old retired couple that lived in a tiny camping trailer with a small garden. Joe was a welder and had some livestock. I was a kid.
Rarely. I don't like talking to strangers. Granted if I have to help with some car trouble sure I will help or if I see something funky going on in their property I''call 911 for them, but that's pretty much it.
Kinda sad for you
"fly over country"
I find those places to be much better in all respects then the "fly to countries".
I don't go out of my way to talk to the neighbors but I keep an eye out for anything strange going on and will assist when needed.. Most of the time it's quiet here but occasionally there is some unusual activity. About two weeks ago a crazy person was cursing loudly and pounding on my neighbors door at 2 am. The next day I found it was their ex who was very drunk and wanted to get in.
Not really. We don't really like our neighbors. One purposely put their fence in the wrong spot to try to steal land. They also cut down a bush that was in our yard. Another has dogs that never shut the f*ck up. Another drives their extremely loud 4 wheelers in their back yard nearly everyday in the summer ruining the local tranquility.
Couple others are alright but I keep to myself.
only poor people have neighbors.

What sort of a place do you live where people have '"car trouble"?

+1
Retired and moved to rural area after years in apartments and condos near NY and Bos.
Peace and quiet, just nod at the passing neighbors on my jog-a-log.
The one is quiet and weird, but gives me insightful heart felt advice about my life and family
The other is annoying obnoxious free loader always coming over and using my stuff

How did the car racer reach the pedals?
Home Improvement?

My neighbor is an Italian immigrant who worked on race cars in Brazil and later worked on developing high end engine oils through a Brazilian chem engineering company. He now owns a auto shop specializing in brakes. I talk gardening and our kids with his wife often. My other neighbor is a Russian immigrant, trained as a mechanical engineer in Russia. Now works for a precious metals co. He and his wife are our good friends. Talk politics and life all the time. Have a few drinks together on the weekend. Their daughter went to one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country. We have similar taste in music except he loves Pink Floyd. We’re lucky to have good neighbors
