I mix 1-2 runs a week with elliptical and cycling. I am reasonably fit and have been working out for about 3 1/2 months, incorporating stretching and strength training in my regimen. I suddenly woke up this morning with a sharp pain in my anterior left knee. It feels like it is on or maybe under the knee cap, but directly in the front, not on the side at all. I feel the pain, not when doing a deep bend with both legs, but only when bearing with that leg and having it bent between about 110-150 degrees. This comes after doing about 100 minutes on a stationary bike at the gym Saturday, 50 min on the elliptical at a easy-moderate pace on Sunday, Monday off, and another easy ride yesterday on a real bike of a bit over 20 miles. I haven´t run since last Thursday.
My questions are: does the cycling seem the most likely culprit for bring on this sort of pain?
I don´t seem feel any discomfort when running (I ran around the yard this morning just to see what it felt like). Does this seem like something I can run through, and maybe lay off the cycling for a bit?
Many thanks to anyone with insight to share.
