Fair warning OP... This college is known to be unsafe for intellectuals because of liberal extremism on campus.

what times roughly would you need in the 1600 senior year to walk on?
There aren't scholarships in D3. Everyone walks on.
And what school are you referring to?
Not sure about track/CC, but in other sports there is a distinction between being a recruited athlete and a walk on, even in D3 where nobody gets an athletic scholarship. A recruited athlete in D3 may get some preference in admissions and also will basically be guaranteed a roster spot, whereas a walk on will have to get into the school on his/her own and may not make the team.
Go to a big time D1 like Long Beach State University. Great area, awesome track, and the Asian hotties that can’t get into UCI will lick your pecker.??

I am already out of college but I am sold on your description. You should seriously consider working for Long Beach State's Admissions department, this is not sarcastic that's truly the best elevator pitch I've ever heard about a school.

Wash U is the best choice based on your criteria. They are a top XC program and one of the top academic schools. With your income level, you would only pay about $25k.
WashU is way out of his league athletically. They have a team that is better than most D1 teams. He could run 9:45 for 3200 and they would yawn at that. He's just way too slow for WashU. Have you even looked at their roster and what their guys ran in high school? They have 12 guys who ran under 9:33 in high school. This is guy is almost a minute slower than that.
Ok, I did see that this guy is just a sophomore. OP, you have a lot of improving to do if you want to run at WashU. Also WashU isn't just "pretty good" academically. It is one of the toughest schools to get into in the country. Even with your 34 on the ACT, you aren't guaranteed admission there unless you throw down a great time.
They have guys who ran under 9:20 in high school. You should plan to run in the 9:20s, and probably low 9:40s by junior year if you really plan to go there.

WashU sucks. They can't even beat CMU.

What I'm wondering is, how did he already take the ACT (and get a 34) in March of his sophomore year? Either he's lying, using a score projection for the EXPLORE or PLAN practice tests, or he actually is kind of a genius and will get a 35 or 36 when he takes it as a junior.
Rhodes College in Memphis has been building up a pretty strong nationally recognizable program the past couple of years. Should be in your range academically too.
DIII teams are like high school- they are required to take anyone who walks on. You can run for any DIII team.
That is absolutely not true.
St. Olaf College - Check it out
Please provide 5 examples. Every D3 team that I am aware of, allows anyone on the team.
Literally every UAA school and WIAC school will not allow everyone to just walk on the team.
I ran in the WIAC. We kicked nobody off. What is the process? D1 coaches go to kids and inform that they are gone. I did not know that D3 coaches could do that.
UW Oshkosh had 18 guys run the 60 indoor and 17 guys run the 5k indoor. That sounds like they allow anyone on the team. If you aren't in the top 18 in the 60, you probably don't get to compete very often and you move on.

It's not quite like that.
I ran at a UAA school, I had a friend who was a HJ who max was clearing 5'4, 5'5" in practices. He was a good guy, but was of no use to the team and was somewhat open about using it for resume padding.
Anyway, the coaching staff clearly told him that he could come to practices, but not to expect a lot of attention to be paid, traveling to any meets, or competing at the conference level. It may be D3 but it's not a rec program.
Whether that fits your definition of "on the team" depends on you. He may as well have been the janitor. He basically just stopped showing up after a month or two.
Yes that is. Check with a D1 coach to find out if he could come to practice.
