It hasn't been a good year for Ivy League tracksters past or present who get high on LSD. Remember the Cornell freshman from earlier in the year? Memo to all Ivy Leaguers who think you are so smart - don't do LSD.
The gf has stood by him and says he's the best thing that has happened to here but was just out of his mind on LSD.
Former Yale University 1500 school record holder James Shirvell arrested for attempted murder after stabbing gf while high on LS

Read about this yesterday. Yikes.

Definitely sad news. A few of my Yale friends sent me this yesterday.
Glad his girlfriend is going to live.
And I corrected the subject as James is the former school record holder at Yale. Not that that really makes a difference to the main story at hand. -
I hope he doesn't get off on some mental illness defense.
Then again, those affiliated with Stanford have a reputation of getting off easy after committing crimes. -
No surprise. Many posters here are sociopaths.

Disgusting. Hope he gets about 20 years and she sits home waiting that entire time after spending a few months herself for doing LSD.

I dunno.
Tens of millions of people have done LSD and not gotten violent.
Something odd here. -

Having tried LSD in the past I can attest that it's not even a slightly violence or craziness inducing drug. It has a slight "upper" effect but nothing like meth. Really it makes you want to sit and stare at a flower or some clouds, or even the wall (which will be moving). It's nice to listen to some music and you might want to dance or otherwise move a bit. A bad trip might make you feel sad. But certainly not violent. Maybe he was on acid. But don't blame the acid. -
Should have focused more on high intensity training.

I used to love eating ice cream when I was on acid. There was something magical about the texture and coldness. -

He can't be one of us, he had a girlfriend. -

Statement from the victim read in court calling it an accident, etc -- says it was drug induced.
I'm glad she's doing OK.
Drugs are weird things -- be careful when you take them. -
Well what y'all are forgetting is that a lot of "acid" these days is not real acid. It's a pharmaceutical cocktail of drugs that produce similar effects to acid but may include lots of other crazy symptoms. That being said, taking enough acid will produce ego-loss and bad trips are no bueno. But you're right; still doesn't make sense to grab a knife and stab someone.

Thanks for your post. You're one post is not a psychological study on LSD. If someone's psychiatric state is in a normal range prior to ingesting LSD and if one does not take too much, then you may be correct. What if someone has a chemical imbalance? What if one takes too much LSD? What if one also drinks too much alcohol and also ingests other drugs/medications? I never have taken it. No plans to take it. -

You act like you are an expert but don't even realize that LSD and acid are the same thing?

Do you not realize that your experience on it is exactly that - your experience? Not everyone who takes steroids has roid rage - but some do.
A quick google search reveals the violence is a very common side effect. The founder of LSD magazine - Wayne Anthony - talks about his girlfriend got very violent during a trip:
https://www.verywellmind.com/five-bad-acid-trip-stories-22096
and here is an article about how a guy had to physically wrestle his buddy for 4-5 hours to prevent him from killing himself:

I think he knows acid and lsd are the same thing, just called it by two different names in the paragraph.

I just don't get comment like yours. I feel very much for him as well as the young man at Cornell. Yes, we as a society can't just give people a free pass if they are on drugs, but if someone only did something because of a drug, I'd certainly want them treated a lot differently than someone who stabbed their GF totally sober. -
Terrible story though. Hope everyone involved recovers as best as possible.

Yes, I do. But I like to mix up my words a bit when I write. It's called "vocabulary."

Sure, just like any other attestation you can take my perspective with however many grains of salt you like. I'm an anonymous poster on a troll-infested message board of ill repute. Do you know the difference between me and someone you should actually trust?

"Very" common? Nah. Incredibly rare. Ever hear of people at Dead or Phish concerts beating the f*ck out of each other? Peace and love to you, Rojo. -
Drunk drivers who accidentally kill someone go to prison for a very long time. The word was, accidentally. Someone who intentionally stabs another person repeatedly while on drugs should have a much more stringent punishment than the drunk driver. I am pretty sure if someone intentionally runs over their girl friend in a fit of rage while drunk, they would go to prison for life. Stabbing someone is more violent than being behind the wheel of a car.
