Best 800m spikes

Mamba 5 was modelled after the og Vics so you could look at those.

I've considered those but read that they took the carbon fiber shank out of this model so am concerned that the main reason I like the og vic elites (the responsive springiness) won't be there. Does anybody have experience with both?

Look for another pair of victory elites on ebay or something

Vaporfly elite 2, way better than victory 3, Nike hit it out of the park with these spikes

Probably Brooks ELMN8, has carbon fiber and is 4oz. More 800 focused than vic elite

I dont know if you can find Saucony Ballistas anymore but I heard good things and they are VERY light(3.1 oz). I havent tried them but I like the endorphin which is the long distance version of them basically

the ELMN8 is def the one that looks most similar to the first vic elites. Anybody here worn both?

I havent worn both but ELMN8's are easily some of the fastest shoes out there, honestly probably faster than vics because the plate is stiffer. Youve gotta be hella fast though because if you dont put enough force into the shoe to flex the plate its just really stiff, however the faster you run the more you get back from the shoe. (I would know, I ran relatively quick in HS and worked in a running store). I dont think you can really go wrong with either, I was also on a rather fast 4x4 in hs and 1 of my teammates used the vics and he loved them, personally I just like the ELMN8's more.

As someone else who absolutely loves the original Vic elites I would second the Ballistas. They’re a little faster and aggressive than the Vic’s so they’ve become my go to 800 spike

I've heard the nike zoom 400 is actually better for the 8 than the new elites but it may provide similar problems for you.

Would you say that speed/strength needed to get the most out of the spike is down to actually quality of the runner (based on pr) or more on the runners style?

No current world record under 1500m, except possibly the w400h, was set in a Nike spike. 800 belongs to Adidas.

anybody have experience with the adidas 800m spikes? theyre much heavier than most brands
