Has anyone run in the Brooks ELMN8 v4? Could you run the 1600m in it?
Yes overall they're a great spike and you can run the 1600m in them. It is Brook's primary 800-1500 spike. They're more aggressive than the victories (better for the 800m) less aggressive than the Adizero MD but I did not like it's feel around the foot and lack of any cushioning or a least a "soft feel" around the foot. It's a great spike but the plate is so flat that I doesn't feel great on foot personally. Personally for the mile I'd rather wear Victories but I'm also a huge Nike fanboy.
It depends on your preference of spike plate. The plate is pretty stiff. I prefer flexible plates over stiffer ones. I didn’t get much feedback when running an 800. The spike itself is well made and a step up compared to Nike. I’ll go back to Nike Matumbo 2 when track season rolls around and save the Brooks for short intervals.
