NM State might be one of the saddest campuses I've ever set foot on. NM Highlands may be worse, but at least it's at 6000'.
LC is EP minus a vibrant downtown. Butt ugly.
"Las Cruces: Possibly the Next Tucson!" is a hell of a civic motto. Hope you like retirees.
To each their own. No matter where you go, people will always find something to complain about it. Heat, cold, wind, snow, traffic, construction, etc, etc. I am not saying it's for everybody. But having lived here for a few years, I can tell you that in my opinion there are far more positives than negatives living here in terms of training environment. Las Cruces, even if you don't want to run or race here, is located within reasonable drives from Tucson and Phoenix, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, which are well known to be ideal places to run.
As for the "local brewery scene" I mentioned, txRUNNERgirl is only referring to one brewery. There are several, and most are open well past 9 PM. Beside the point, if you want to drink more than I suggest living in a bigger city with nightlife if that is your scene. Personally I would rather do more running and outdoors activities.
