He's not alive now, but Mihaly Igloi of Loyola High School in California.
Ha! I'll throw in my name to the free-for-all: Van Townsend, Baylor-Chattanooga, Tennessee.
3 Footlocker finalist in 9 years. Several graduates running in college each year. Several 9:04, 4:09, and 1:53 guys over the years.
If you are moving to Chatt. or want to board at Baylor, give me a call.
I have been fotunate to have trained under Squires ( Bill Rogers' coach), Sevene (Benoit's and Athletic West's coach) and Harry Wilson(Ovett's coach), so I've simply tried to nurture my kids' long range development. We have a huge budget (20 grand)and an extremely supportive AD, enabling us to train and travel. Our AD even bult us our own private air-conditioned,comfy-couched, shower and bath equipped locker room. We even bring in a massage therapist once per week to stay injury-free.
C'mon down!

Yes, he is a very good recruiter of talent from other schools.
Tony Wells, Colorado
year after year great sprints, hurdles jumps.
He is so good, that none of the college coaches can improve upon his work.
So Van, are you a great coach? Or are you a great recruiter?
Dave Houle of Mountain View High School in Orem, Utah has won 66 team state championships, including AT LEAST 10 OR MORE in the following sports:
boys cross country
girls cross country (something like 16 team state championships)
girls basketball (has produced seven Miss Basketballs and often ranked top 25 nationally as a team)
boys track & field (typically 1st or 2nd in their state championship)
girls track & field (as of 2003, they had won 10 team state championships in a row and 13 of the last 14 state championships)
He's had at least one year where his 5 teams mentioned above all won the state championship in the same year and has won 4 of 5 state championships in a year a whopping 8 times.
Western Mass.: Michael Brouillette!!
Brad Prins...Rockford, MI
Mark Nessner..Rockford, MI
Randy Foster, Milan Edison
out of pa, i'd say cedar cliff's ken roseberry has to be considered among the elite coaches. his longevity isn't there yet, but he's turned a below average xc program at a relatively small high school into a perennial state contender during the past 10 years.
I am DEFINITELY voting for Randy. He might even want to go back to Firelands if those European dudes do half of what they have planned for the quarries.
Joe Newton has 24 state titles in IL. Paul Jorgenson at Flathead, Pat Tyson at Meade, Houle, Arbogast, LAnge- all great coaches.
when larry greer coached at fountain valley he had 4 runners he started from scratch who ran under 420 and 2 girls under 450.
Best I've ever seen is Roger Mathiesen at Kearney High School in Kearney, Nebraska.

Mike Elder. You can't have this thread without considering him. Tons of cross country hs state championships. Tons of DI athletes produced ... mostly in the ACC.
If you don't like him ... it's only cause we beat you.
You’re forgetting one important thing: CC in North Carolina sucks. Any team that does any sort of training in the summer can easily finish top-5 at states. If the team members have some talent, a state tiles is not hard to win. Besides, Gibbons is independent so there are only what, about 20 CC schools in the state to compete against? Many of the school only have a small number of students, too. Not to mention that independent schools can recruit from a large area rather that getting runners from a small defined school district like a public school.
And by the way, nice arrogant statement to end your post - no wonder every team in the state hates CG's runners.
There's a great coach in Wisconsin, relatively young(low 30's) who has produced 3 state girls team championships and multiple individual state champs in track in less than 5 years as being the coach.
Len Klepack- Columbia HS, NJ
Despite what many of you may think about his career in the NCAA, he had an outstanding HS coaching career.
HS RECORDS
girls DMR- set the American HS record at PENN- recently beat though
Coached the Clarks in HS
I agree with missouri. i ran in high school in springfield mo and we were an hour or so away from west plains. my coach always told us that when it came district time that we would have to contend with 7 west plains runners to get out. and that was individually. in track it was the same. my junior year i had to contend with josh harper and matt brown all season running 9:20s, and then brown gets hurt and they put ian macfarland into the 3200, and he runs 9:20s too. not many teams have that kind of depth. i remember one race where i ran low 16:0? and i barely beat their 7th runner. Joe Bill Dixon deserves a lot of respect for getting 20-30 people in 17 flat or better shape year in and year out.

Joe Bill Dixon, West Plains Missouri. A realatively small southern missouri school (1200ish). Produced Jason Sandfort and Josh Harper among others. Ranked 3rd in the nation in 2001 on the boys side. Girls won state with a perfect score this year. Too many total state championships to count.
Perry Shaw from Tallahassee, Florida. Check it out on him and his coach career! Good luck.
