Offseason (mid-winter or mid-summer), very little running: > 55bpm.
At about 25 mpw: around 52-53 bpm.
At about 40 mpw: around 48-50 bpm.
Both mpw and bpm are averaged over several weeks.
39/40 RHR though I see like 33 overnight.
High of about 190, run races around 170-180 bpm.
2-3 beers/glasses of wine in the evening 46-48, sans beer 40-42. It dropped a bit as I got back into running 3+ years ago but has been pretty stable for the last year even as my miles have increased.
Started training w HR soon after I started running about 10 years ago, so I actually know this one:
Age 29: 58bpm rhr (1:52 half)
Today, 38: 49bpm rhr (1:34 half)
That being said, my understanding is that RHR is largely genetic and there is very little correlation between RHR and fitness, although aerobic training does consistently lower it.
I drink lots of coffee so about 88 bpm. Why do you ask?
Everyone wants to blame health problems in genetics. My twin weighs 80 pounds more than I do. My resting heart rate is 40 and I have low blood pressure. His is 60 and he has high blood pressure. He eats a high protein high fat diet while I eat a low fat diet with lots of fruits and veggies.
43 bpm with a 22:05 5k pr
33 bpm, current fitness ~ 16:30 5k @ 35-40 miles a week, 35M
Current RHR: 44 according to fitbit, reaches 36 at night
Current mileage: 30 mpw
When I hadn't run for several months RHR was 54
Training had a large impact!!
When I wake up it's usually 38-40. If I had a hard workout the day before or a short night's sleep it'll be more like 41-43. Not sure on max heart rate. It's been like this for years, I train year round pretty high.
59 today according to fitbit, I'm not currently very fit though. It gets down to about 55 at times and never goes much higher than low 60's unless I'm ill. No matter how much or how little I train though it's always roughly between 55-65.
Age 33, weight 105, marathon 2:43, rhr around 38.
Age 60, weight 117, half-marathon around 1:50, rhr around 60.
I assume the increase in rhr is due more to age and detraining than to the extra 12 pounds, although I'm not about to starve back down to 105 to find out.
In my late twenties, my active heart rate is about 50. Not sure what resting is since I never have taken it right when I get up or use a monitoring device. I'd guess mid 30's.
110mpw + and a 2:17 marathoner.
how and when are you people measuring your heart rate?
when you wake up in the am?
with a device or the old school finger to the neck or wrist?
And when do you measure it? My HR is regularly 10 beats higher as soon as I wake up than when I'm in bed at night about to fall asleep, that's when it gets to its lowest, mid 40s, once under 40.
Had a waking HR of 26 when I was running D1 in college. Didn't correlate to running performance in my case, though, at that level.
Present RHR in am is 44 at age 67 on < 30 mpw. In HS was back to 45 about 10 min after a hard road run. Can no longer get HR above 120.

I don't believe that, not that it matters one bit. But it's not true. Either you were not measuring it improperly or you are lying. I'm thinking the former.
