What’s the story with Savannah State? When do they drop to D2? What will their conference be?

Miami? Don’t believe so.

Nick McDonough to Stockton University. Great hire for the Ospreys!
https://stocktonathletics.com/news/2019/8/9/mens-track-field-stockton-adds-nick-mcdonough-to-cross-country-track-field-staff.aspxMcDonough recruited and coached mostly NJ guys to a D3 NCAA win (and other podium finishes) while he was at NYU. Considering NYU's academic rigor, high tuition, and limited financial aid, that was amazing.
At Stockton he'll be able to recruit NJ kids with in-state tuition and more "comfortable" academics. I predict a podium finish in four years, tops.
So he was fired from Manhattan? Or did he leave randomly? Seems odd he leaves after two years and then comes back a few years later? He did a great job at NYU but how have they done since he left?
I think posters have been saying about him with Utah today already
It would be tough to go all distance at Utah because there is a ton of competition for the same kids.
HR rejection emails were sent so I imagine sometime soon it should be released.
Does Andrea keep their staff? How many paid coaches do they have?

As a social experiment. I would love to see Hadsell apply for a job let’s say at a midmajor. To see if they even look. He has decent enough credentials etc. wonder if he would atleast get interviewed. He didn’t break any laws so there wouldn’t be a background check issue. I think it would be very interesting, especially if he kept us afloat as a window of transparency. Could even do a documentary about it.
I would bet he gets hired. There would be some initial pushback but there are football coaches that have done far worse. Would be very interesting.
Toledo was fully funded and entirely distance focused and only qualified for nationals a few times under Hadsell. That's not impressive at all, actually.
I'm not a big fan of Andrea Grove McDonough she is 100x the coach Hadsell is. She will achieve a lot more success than Hadsell.

hahahahaha. you obviously don’t follow it so we will let you go back to grinding your ax.
I laughed too. I coached at another MAC school during that time. Toledo was a joke until he got there. I’m guessing all those 6m/13m jumpers and 11.x/24.x sprinters weren’t running cc.
Toledo went to NCAAs like 4 of his last 4 years which equaled the total number of times the entire MAC had ever qualified for nationals total in 30 years. They were one of first teams out at least 3-4 times too. He Had American record holder. His Asian jumps coach was best jumps coach in conference (I never understood a word he said).
My last year in the MAC was Kevin’s and they were winning both indoor and outdoor track until 4x4 with distance and jumps and they also had great sprinters. All that with no indoor track.
Should he have been more professional? I think that’s obvious but we all respected his opinions and his knowledge. I think it’s hilarious he’s back in this. We were dying laughing when we saw him on that bigassed billboard outside Penn Relays on I-95! That kitten has 9 lives.

That job was previously held by a female so only logical to assume it would be filled by one. That’s not a great job anyway.

If she’s a good coach and has desire to make an impact she won’t stay here long. Having the P5 on the resume is good, but when you’re in a position where you’re not giving much input and just at the mercy of another coach that gets old, unless you don’t have any input and like saying: yes sir, ok I’m on it, and will do. Stepping stone position. She will do very well.

The folks on East Hill are usually *very* fast with posting openings. But nothing seems to have been posted for Artie's position so you have to think they've got it covered. Maybe reorganizing the staff. Maybe an interim. Maybe both. I notice one change already. Byron is the real deal and the Big Red are wise to do whatever they can to keep him.
https://cornellbigred.com/news/2019/8/9/byron-elevated-to-associate-head-coach-of-womens-track-field.aspxFall is absolutely the critical time for recruiting in the Ivy League so they must have Artie's spot covered somehow.
There's been a wholesale change of coaching staff at Cornell in the last few years. Artie and Adrian were the last real links to the "glory days" and now Artie is gone and Adrian may follow if CU doesn't up its game immediately.

Nick was working with/under Dan Mecca at Manhattan. From Day One, people who knew both were predicting conflict--just two guys who don't necessarily play well with others.
Another way to say that is that Nick didn't leave Manhattan "randomly."
In his years away from coaching I believe he has been making decent bank by hosting big indoor meets at Ocean Breeze (and elsewhere?).

Since McDonough left, NYU has not fared well. I've seen some of their morning practices in the Armory. They apparently have good institutional support; they certainly have good numbers (~70 men and women?) and an army of coaches; they recruit nationally (quite a few kids from California) and even internationally. Yet they're just not getting the job done: Men are in the bottom half of the UAA, and women DFL.
Their drop-off is hard to understand. Granted, it's a very tough D3 conference, but it was a tough conference when McDonough was there, too, and yet they had some real success then. Nick seems to have stayed mostly in the Tri-State area with his recruiting, especially New Jersey, but maybe he was more systematic or rigorous with it.

The squad was talking about the schedule the other day. It seems there is no rush to hire a distance coach since our first meet is 9/21. JJ is doing a great job.

Marquette to Monmouth is done. I spoke to team members on both squads. Press release should be out early this week. New Monmouth coach will need to hire a sprints/hurdles coach ASAP.
No idea what Marquette does in response.
