In marathons does Mo Farah strike forefoot, midfoot oris he a heel striker?
Settle an argument.

Waste of 32 seconds.
I've noticed before on here that while people love arguing ask them a running related question and they are stumped.
Do I'll expesd my opinion he's a fore foot striker. Changing from track to marathon is not going to change that.
Got the footage (excuse the pun) on slow and it's not really conclusive. There is not much decent on you tube of him in marathons or I've not found yet.

One thing people forget is you can land heel first but does not mean you're a heel striker if you land lightly on your heel. I land heel first but my shoes wear and tear is almost entirely on the forefoot.

Sure it does, it just means you're heel striking properly. The forefoot wear is from pushing off and the slight slipping which occurs with that.
Mo is a "proper" heel striker on the road. His heel touches first and then a fraction later he strikes mid-outside and rapidly rolls through.
ukathleticscoach is blind and sucks at an internet search.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRrdB1jTuTsRubbish angle you cannot tell from there his forefoot dips at last moment and you can even see the heal properly
That's actually a half marathon by the way .

Here is a marathon you failed to find. I actually knew he was a forefoot striker.
Watch from rear you can clearly see he is forefoot striking.
Should have known not to ask the people on here. Last time I asked about elite pre marathon loading etc. Nobody knew fevk all there either.
Get back to predicting 5km times.
and one more thing after yet another failure don't worry you can change your username... again.
How insecure are you not to even to stick with one anonymous username!

Yes, the clawback is a very important/forgotten aspect of running form people forget about. If you watch Herb Elliott run notice how his foot rotates as it hits the ground.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Luqz7bBmooADoes anyone have the full race to the 1960 1500m final? Anyways, if you watch Herb Elliott with the naked eye it looks like he is heel striking. But when you slow it down to 0.25, you notice the claw back and his foot snaps back to his forefoot as he lands. Very smooth, this is what we should put more of a emphasis on when it comes to running form. Not just where the foot lands, but the entire motion of the foot and leg. Trying to become as smooth as possible without any wasted motion. Lastly, this kind of running pattern probably engages more muscles like the glutes and can probably generate more power and be more efficient when running. For example, look at Hicham El Guerrouj running form who's running form looks a lot like Herb Elliott.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EBlQEoH-5Uhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5TETCM_j7EI found dozens and just posted one. You really think his Marathon footstrike is going to vary from his half?
Try slowing don the slo-mo now that you have been taught that complex task.
Yeah, your username is really non-anonymous.

Posting a link is hard. You knew but asked us to settle it for you? OK
Looks like a forefoot strike to me.
In related news ukathleticscoach you sound like you have way too much time and negative energy on your hands.
It really matters whether he lands not too much in front of his hips or not.... and he doesnt.
Overstriding or not that is the question....
