I would argue that Carson Bix, who defeated Capetillo (who began his college career at Colorado) at this fall’s state meet has just as much of a chance. Capetillo posted a 19:01 4 mile this fall, which equates to a 23:56 8km.
Again, not everyone who does this will end up with Pac 12 interest that they didn’t already have, and it’s true that athletes from sh!tty programs will never be able to contribute to a university level team. But then again, at least half of the athletes recruited directly to Pac 12-type schools don’t pan out anyway.
Sal had food poisoning on wednesday of the state meet and didn't run until the pre-meet. Not many people know about it because him and his coaches aren't the type to complain. I'll still stand by Sal being the only one under 14:20.
