NASCAR & George Strait, does it get any better than that?

"After the meet I rushed home to get ready for a George Strait concert...The concert was phenomenal and George put on a wicked good show. After the concert we headed uptown in Chapel Hill and went out for a bit. I think I had a little too much fun that night cause I had a hard time getting up the next morning in order to make the planned trip to Rockingham for a NASCAR race. Sadly, I just slept and ate all day."

As everyone in the Commonwealth of MA knows, the term "wicked _____" is required to be used by anyone under 45.

Shalene is the future of US distance/mid-distance running, so don't knock her. Also the biggest flirtatious track chick I have ever seen!!!!

PS. Only about 1/4 of NJ is an armpit, but 3/4 of Arkansas fits the bill.

I always thought she was a bitch. She confirmed that in her latest post. The epitome of ignorant spoiled bitch. She better does not even dare to enter Arkansas. People are very proud Razorbacks fans there...

She's doing 600 meter repeats in 90 seconds? Does not compute.That's 60 seconds per 400 meters, faster than her 400 repeats.Does she even have a P.R. near 2:00 for 800 meters?

First, I'm not really an U. of Arkansas fan, and occasionally am a U. of Arkansas basher. BUT, I am tired of every self-righteous NEnglander disparaging the "hick midwest and south." Go there and you'll discover some of the best natural beauty in the country. Most people there generally treat each other nicely and have common sense. Also, there is no other place in the country I'd rather raise children. Yeah, we do have problems like anywhere else, but it's not all some cruddy place wishing it could be Boston.

Actually, I wish I lived in New England so I could spend all winter looking at the snow pile up before my fat, pasty-white vegetarian girlfriend came over. Eventually we would marry and I would adopt her extremist ideology just so I could get a piece of that sweet ace on a semi-regular basis. Maybe I could eventually enter politics and tell eveyone in other parts of the country how to live their lives and how ignorant they are (not to mention how bad their part of the country stinks). I might even someday have a son if my wife and I ever figure out that there are more important things in life than having the world's best career. With any luck the boy will never have any real life experience or a job that makes him sweat. Maybe he'll be a real rebel and experiment with drugs -- that passes for being a bad-ass up here. Nevertheless he will, like me, instinctively know what is best for everyone and become a self-righteous diphead.

p.s. I don't hate everybody from NE, I know some great people from that region. What I do hate is the constant elitism that comes from up there, so I wrote this post. By the way, this ignorant redneck knows that NC is not in NE, but from Shalane's use of the term wicked I assume that she's either from NE or is a poser. As a sidenote, good runners come from all parts of the US and in my opinion posters on this board overrate many from the Northeast.

Since Im not American, can I ask what is the insistence on Americans posting there training diaries on the net? Its pretty irrelevant really. It seems strange cause all top runners in Europe are very reluctant to let anything out about their training. Case in point Wilson Kipketer, and dont believe that well documented webpage with the training of El G on it either. There isnt even a Kipketer.com, or Gebrasallasie.dom, yet there is JohnSmithfromMichigan800mrunner.com detailing how he ran 5 miles in 40 minutes, and then did 10 x 400 in 70, then went to the lab for lactic testing, then ate a pizza for dinner.

Is this why your runners suck? Too busy writing up their training and making it look impressive so all the sucks out there go "WOW", instead of training hard?

for instance, one of my female co-workers recently said, upon sneaking into a tight parking spot -- "dude, I'm all wicked proud of myself."

and Mr. Councilor, I believe stereotypes go both ways. My mom does work in the Southeast and every person she meets feels the need to lambast her as a "Yankee" before starting conversation.

This is shocking we are going to have another top american female middle distance runner that can't communicate with the masses. Suzy, Regina, and so on and so on. These primadonna attitudes kill our sport.

I think you failed to notice what you were responding to. The typo or whatever he was referring to was the 90 second 600m, not the term "wicked".

If Shalane thought the South was backwards, do you think she would be going to UNC, or be excited about going to a NASCAR race and a George Strait concert? That doesn't make sense.

Great post. I, too, have often found myself annoyed by the consistent elitism cranked out by the Northeast. You articulated it quite brilliantly.

In defense of Shalane (despite her being a Tar Heel), she didn't say that the entire South or Midwest was backward. Let's face it guys - Arkansas isn't on the top of your spring break destination lists either.
