I nominate Tony Waldrip.
Was slated to appear in 1976 OT's., didn't show. Walked away from sport.
I don't remember much more, but after a series of cracking indoor miles, and
coming to the fore...he seems to have just walked away. Went on with his life.
I'm sure someone here knows more, but it brings to mind other runners with great, great potential
who just didn't want to take it any further and went on with their lives...
Who do you nominate.

I would say Jabe Jennings, but he bicycled and Capoeiraed away.
-
Kenenisa Bekele. He didn't give 100% all the time and definitely could have taken the marathon WR if he really put his mind to it. He always was the best.

In 1976 Olympics, Prefontaine would not have finished in higher than fifth in either 5000 or 10000. -
